can i transfer data from my laptop HD?

I just pulled a HD from a friend's laptop. She's got some pictures on there she wants to salvage. What's the quickest/cheapest way to go about doing this? Is there a USB cable that could attach to the harddrive? What would power it?

You can buy a USB powered enclosure for 2.5" disk drives. Search Newegg.com. They should be about $20.

I bought one and I keep a spare 120 GB drive in it to use a a backup device. Any 2.5" drive can easily be plugged in or removed. USB powered is the best.

You can also get a IDE adaptor for it from Compusa that allows you to plug it into a standard desktop IDE slot.
