Cable Modem

Who makes these things now? I hate renting from Comcast because I pay them enough.

I've been using a D-Link Cable Modem for the last 4 years and I think its finally on its way out because it keep dropping the connection randomly so I need to find a replacement. Are Motorola Surfboards the only option?

I have the linksys cable modem that I bought at Fry's so I wouldn't have to rent Comcast's modem. Been using it for years, no problems at all. You could probably find lots of unused surfboards on craigslist.

Be sure to couple the Moto Surfboard to a 5G Netgear router (WNDR3700, better ones out now).

You may get a little stink with the Surfboard. Mine kept dropping connection for a month after providing Charter with the MAC address. I think they wanted me to keep using their crappy all-in-one equipment.

I push 300 Mbps per channel with a Cat 7 wire between the modem and Router at 2200 feet wireless.
