you guys can check out www.techbargains.com for some decent deals on laptops. they had some nice dell ones a week or two ago, but they have one now for a 2ghz celeron for ~900. keep checking it once in a while, you might be able to get a better deal. but the one you posted doesnt sound too bad, i bet it runs hot like a mofo though.

Yup, Dell.com

I did get a Sprint employee discount and a bunch of other online discount/specials.

They give company discounts on top of those deals ??

I actually had customized a computer earlier today, and its almost the exact one you had mentioned .

Yes they do.

From the Company internal website, you use a different link on the Intranet and build from there.

The dell website(s) are the greatest. I actually had another computer built and purchased and the very next day, I learned about the Sprint discount. Cancelled the work-in-progress and built a better computer for less.

Today's status for my Dell laptop just turned to "Shipped".

I'll let you know how I like it when I get it.

Alright I just finshed paying for the exact same config as above but: 256mg ram instead of your 384. And I got the SXVGA+ and a 3 year warranty Total w/tax/shipped: $1407.68

I feel like I got ripped off for some reason, I was only planning on spending ~$1200

I say go with the Compaq. You won't be dissappointed. That sounds like a great deal.
