Broken Nokia (6600)

I have had my nokia 6600 since last Jan and about a week ago the vibrator (vibrate function) stopped working. I hear something spinning, but it doesnt vibrate. I called nokia, there are no service centers near me and they want me to send in my phone (it will be gone for at least 2 weeks) and they cant just send me a new one before i send my old one in. that kinda pissed me off...damn nokia

Anyone ever have this problem or have any ideas?....i would rather not be without a phone for 2 weeks, i might be able to get ahold of another phone (or if someone wants to send me a free treo 650 )

thanks!

all of the gsm people tell me that the sim-card is important so that the customer can move their account from one phone to another. i always question the "real" value in this because i just don't believe customers demand this feature.

are you aware that you can remove your sim-card and place it in any [unlocked] gsm phone and use it until your nokia is returned? cheap, inexpensive gsm phones can be had for pennies...just about anywhere. you might even be able to borrow one from a friend.

Just send it in, and use another phone in the mean while, do you really expect them to send you another Nokia 6600, without knowing you and expect you to be honest and trust you will send the old one back to them, companies like T-Mobile do this because they know you, have done a credit check on you and can legally bill you for all the charges and turn your phone service off if you dont return the phone

companies do that all the time...i just supply them with a credit card and if they dont get my old one back they charge me for the cost of a new one.

but i guess i will just dig up a phone and send it in. I wish the damn thing wouldnt have broke.

depends on who is your service provider i guess.. If it is t mobile you can try to call them and tell them that your phone's vibrating function is not working. If your phone is still under waranty, they will send you a refurb one and then you send them your none-vibrating phone. I have done this before but not sure if other cell phone service provider does it.
