Thumbs up BluAnt Z9i (( Red )) Bluetooth Earpiece =4.5/5 Stars

I just got my red z9i last night from newegg (63.99). I love it so far. I paired it with the iphone right after charging it used it for a couple hours then did the firmware update to 1.1.

The sound is louder than before. It seems more clear as well. I wish they fixed the distance issue with the iphone this go round. I can't seem to get too far (( 7-10 feet)) before it starts cracking/static etc.

It works fine with the phone in my pocket. The biggest selling point is, this morning , I drove my car (G35 coupe) with the sunroof open and my windows down and the radio on. I turned the noise suppression onto the max setting and my girlfriend had no idea I'm driving with all of this going on! I didn't even have to shout!

That , plus the fact no one knows I'm even on a bluetooth headset are the 2 biggest complements so far in my book. I wish my Jabra JX-10 would have done that when I had it. I would have kept it.

Nice. I had the original blueant for a few days and returned it. People on the other line said I sounded like I was in a tunnel.

I have the original jawbone and still love it.

Nsx, what kind of phone are u using the jawbone with? With the original Z9, did u have a chance to update the firmware? The firmware patches have fixed almost all of the short comings these earpieces had from factory

Belive it or not, people over at howardforums are updating their original z9 units to the Z9i 1.1 firmware and are basically getting a free upgrade to the new headset.

It works flawlessly with the new software encapsulating the same features and call quality of the new Z9i unit and saveing 20.00 or so in the process! I wish I knew about this a week ago. I would have ordered that one instead.

Thanks for the review, you've convinced me to get it, since my old WEP-200 sadly could not pair up successfully with my iPhone.... plus I lost it.

And just to clarify, the Z9i has Bluetooth 2.0 right? Its kinda silly considering its a new Bluetooth headset but I hope you meant the firmware upgrade for the Z9i itself? If so, where do you download the upgrade to 1.1? Thanks

^ ^...

2 things...

the blueant unit is a bluetooth 2.0 device....check out the website

http://www.myblueant.com/z9i_headset.htm

Firmware will be available from the website as a free download at the end of the month...of course I couldn't wait that long and I didn't feel like emailing customer service for the file so I googled "Blueant Z9i firmware 1.1 howardforums" and got this page below

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=11484694

scroll down about 1/4th to find the download links and yes the earpiece is bad@ss! You can pair it with 2 phones simultaneously and swap back/fourth between both phones, answer a call on one, put the other person on hold on the other etc!

At the same time, you can pair the same bluetooth with up to 3 other devices, laptop PS3 etc...for a total of 5 devices paired at the same time. Nothing else out there does this and sounds as good neither.

I use it everyday now. No one knows I'm on an earpiece nor has mentioned anything. When I ask them how do I sound they're all like why? What's wrong, are you ok...i'm like yeah I'm fine just testing my new bluetooth earpiece then they say yeah right I can't tell the difference...

Mission accomplished

I have to go with NSXNXT here, Jawbone>*. I have had treo products over the years and non of the BT handsets that I owned worked good with the treo/s. Jawbone on the other hand works flawlessly and battery life is awesome as well

Isn't it funny how the web reviewers never give a list of the phones they test these bluetooth devices with? Its like one earpiece can give a great performance with one phone and become horrible with another.

I wish they made a universal list that shows which bluetooth works best with what phone etc.

So far I can confirm that the BlueAnt Z9 and the Z9i work great with the iphone. No one knows I'm using it and friends are getting tired of me asking them how I sound etc lol

I want to test the Jawbone 2 with the iphone and see how that one works as well. Anyone here have both the Jawbone 2 and an iphone?

What's your experience like?

^^ I love the new JB, its smaller and sleeker but just dont see the need to buy one when the first one works so good, plus it may look huge in size but you can barely feel it when wearing it. I remember when I use to have a motorola BT headset, every time I had it on it felt like someone was pinching my ear.

Nice! I'm telling you, with the normal suppresion, people can't tell you're using an earpiece. I've tested mine by calling the voicemail and changing my greeting. I actually sound better with the earpiece vs the iphone itself! I tried it with the Max noise filter mode (at a bar/pool hall this weekend) and it worked well too.

Which color did you end up ordering?

God I hate that feeling. My JAbra JX-10 was torture to wear after a while. There was something about that earhook which pinched the little bone behind my ear. This would make wearing it for extended periods of time very uncomfortable for me and I ended up selling it together with my old T mobile Dash on Ebay.

Costco, let me know how it works out for you. I've got the earhook adjusted perfectly now too. Take the time to adjust it the first few mins you have it so it sits nice and snug without squeezing tight. Once you find the sweet spot you can wiggle your face all you want but this sucker's not coming off until you pull it of course

Holy crap! Look what I found. Check out this deal on the same bluetooth earpiece??

Whhhaaat I should have waited.

Its the same bluetooth as the one I got. All you have to do is update the firmware from their website and you've got a Z9i model headset for 30.00 free shipping! Better hurry up before they sell out

On a side note, I was @ the carwash this morning and the guy was vacuuming my car while I was standing next to it.

My girlfriend didn't even know I was right next to the vacuum cleaner. THAT'S whats up

Sorry, I forgot about this thread but it was bumped to the top. Love mine, and yeah I do sound AND hear better with the earpiece as opposed to with it off. I haven't been asking people "hey, can you hear me alright?" but I no longer have to ask people to repeat things or vice versa because my phone's earpiece is too low even when maxed out. Its also very comfortable.

I got it in black btw. Not like the red is overly flashy but I'm more of a typical guy.... my closet is full of white, black, grey and some blue clothes. And I have 1 red shirt

Funny thing is, I JUST found my old Samsung WEP200 headset in my pants pocket after half a year of thinking it was lost.. but it doesn't stay synced with my iPhone anyway.

Thanks again!

DAmn the price went back up to 56.99. Should have got 2 but I just paid today oh well better luck next time...Rick, you can use it with Windows mobile phones.

Bluetooths and phones have weird pairing relationships. Its mainly phone dependent meaning some headsets are the bomb with some phones and straight @zz with others. It all depends on the kind of phone you use...

I can tell you that I own both the Motorola Q9H and 1st gen iPhone that I use with both AT&T and Tmobile...

My blue ant is synced with both phones and I hop back and fourth between them on the fly using the headset. People say I sound much better when synced to the iPhone when I used it on tmobile out of the above scenarios. So I stick to that

You may have a different experience with your phone....for that I say check out this review and this review

JM, you know what, the new model is the same as the old one....just download the v 1.1 firmware from the manufacturer's site and it'll flash your model to the new one with all the updates and features for free!

Enjoy your new Z9i
