Blackberry or Windows Mobile for Exchange Email

The COO at my employer found out that I canceled my personal cell phone 6 months ago and wasn't too pleased

Now they came back and said they will buy me a smartphone and pay for the plan without the need for me to expense it. My employer supports both Blackberry (with a Blackberry Server) and Windows Mobile for email. Is one technology really better than the other?

I've personally have always like Pocket PC/Windows Mobile. Never played with a BB before, but it seems like in the business world... they lean towards BB a lot more for whatever reason. (I'm NOT in that world... I'm just a personal trainer)

I had windows mobile before and now i have a BB and never looked back since. Blackberry's a lot better for email than windows mobile. BBs receive emails instantly (without you doing anything) whereas for windows mobile you have to go into outlook and retrieve the email (this can be a pita). BB ftw!

Smartphones with Windows Mobile 6 have Microsoft Directpush which sends emails from an exchange server instantly.

If you are just looking to use just emails on the phone I would recommend the BB. If you are looking to do more things on the phone I would recommend a Windows Mobile phone.

If you've ever used a BB before it's really hard to go back to anything else.

push e-mail definitely isn't something that is unique to BB's anymore though.

I had 2 smartphones with WM5 ()XV6700 & Blackjack), and now a BB (8830 international).

BB works better for me. I still have the XV6700 as a personal phone, but I never use it.

I have a Blackberry and love it but we're going to move to a Windows Mobile based solution in order to be able to send digitally signed and encrypted emails and also access CAC enabled DoD websites.
