Ok. So I tried to get verizon to replace my storm with a tour, but to no avail. She said it is replaced under manufacturer warranty and you have to get the same device. Maybe I could have pushed a little more, but meh.

They were going to send me a new Storm right away, but I declined because it's too much of a crap shoot. We have a pool of new devices at work and they sent me a BNIB Storm and the screen was barely functional.

 

FYI, micro-USB is now mandated by EU rules for use on all new Smartphones, to standarize cabling and reduce e-waste.

 

Contrat's up in Jan. I'll be switching over to Verizon from AT&T, just waiting for a BB that was worth switching for. Currently have the Pearl (not a real BB, but it works).

You mean can you plug your phone in the wall to charge it overseas? Yes. Your AC adapter has interchangeable plugs for various countries. The adapter converts the amps/volts so as to not fry your device.

 

So whats for TMOBILE?

 

No I mean the Output rating such as 800 mA @ 3V or whatever. Because if your OEM charger for example puts out 800 mA @ 3V, I don't think you are supposed to use another charger (with the same plug) that outputs more than the OEM charger output, for example if it outputs 1200 mA @ 3V then you aren't supposed to use it. My brother's Motorola phone can somehow recognize when you are using a Non-OEM charger, and I'm guessing it does that by sensing the output of the charger. (So I guess if you got a non-OEM charger with the same output rating, it would work, but I don't have the equipment to test it on his phone).

 

Umm the Bold? Its basically the same thing in terms of features and you have WIFI

 

I just hit the mark for my NE2 last week. I think I'm going to step up to the Tour.

i'm getting rid of my iphone 3g and getting this. I love the iphone browsing, but I cannot stand the texting. It just sucks. And I barely listen to music....

 

Ooh, now I'm excited. I just checked my verizon account online and apparently I'm able to get the NE2 discount now! I guess I was messed up on the timing of when I'd be eligible. I thought it started over whenever you got a new phone, but I guess not.

The bf and I both want the Tour and we're both eligible. We might do a family plan (me on his) since he gets a discount. Nice!

 

The bf and I each got a Tour on Friday. I really like it so far. It's my first BB, so it'll take some getting used to. So far I really like the browser. It's pretty quick.

 

I like my tour as it replaced my voyager of almost 2 years. It is going through some teething issues such as the camera locking up and saying I need to close other apps due to a lack of memory when I don't have any other apps open. That requires a battery pull and a 10 minute reboot. I have a really loose battery door as well. People are getting battery doors replaced. Eh, it's whatever.

I think the camera failing is software and supposedly a new OS is on its way. Maybe an upgrade will alleviate some of those issues.

Overall the sync with email makes this phone worth its weight in gold. I use it for work and I hardly skip a beat. I don't need to use a laptop. When the camera works; the pics are good, browser is fast, and I have slacker radio which is neat. Other then texting and bb messenger I don't use the phone for that much else. So for me it does its job most of the time.

 

FYI, the micro USB may seem like you need to replace all your chargers, etc... at $30-$40 a piece, but there are miniUSB->microUSB converter tips available for around $2 that you simply plug onto the end of your old chargers.

So far I've had no issues at all (knock on wood), and the battery door on mine is not that loose, and does not bother me at all.

 

I am waiting until my pearl dies, which shouldn't be too much longer and then I am looking to get this phone.

 

so I had the storm, HATED it!! Just picked up my Tour last night

I wanted the tour but I was in contract and didnt wanna pay the full retail price. My storm has been screwy since day one and I have complained to Verizon numerous times. They finally agreed to ship me another Storm but that was not good enough LOL (this was all over the phone btw)

So I go to the Verizon store yesterday and tell the guy I really want the tour blah blah, finally he agrees to give me the Tour for $199 NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Ill sell my new Storm that they are sending me on ebay to get the $199 back!

oh and I got a super cute pink silicone case too

 

if its the clicking of the screen, open up the back, put in a business card (might need to cut) and its a little more responsive.

i dont have one though so i can't tell you my experience.

 

$199 after rebate i assume.. u must have used someone elses upgrade; no way you can get the tour for that price w/o an upgrade.

They were being built as of early last month, got boxed and shipped and then RIM changed their minds and took them all back.

Now the story is that Verizon/Sprint etc are going to get a World Edition Bold 97xx variant.

I had a NE2 and was waiting for this phone. Then the whole, we're going to call it a bold series.

Ended up getting the Storm 2 until they decide what to call it. But by then, there will be another new berry coming out.

Well i just got one of these phones and noticed that the bluetooth SUCKS! I have both my Verizon Tour and AT&t Curve connected to my car, today i turned off my curve bluetooth and was using my tour. ( At&T is a work phone ), Made and recieved a couple of phone calls and it sounded so disstorted that i unded up turning off the blue tooth on the tour and just used it normally and it was fine after that. Any one else have this problem??
