Best MP3 player for running?
Budget is around $100
would like it to be very small, and can clip on to an article of clothing
doesn't need to hold that many songs, ~50 should be fine, anything over is just icing on the cake
Yep, any suggestions?

^^^ you said budget is $100, that's below your budget. I don't know if they offer student discounts on this, check out your local Apple store. I don't know of any other players this cheap, at least one that I would buy.

Sansa Express. $59.99.
Like the iPod shuffle, 1 GB, but cheaper, with expandable memory (via microSD slot), customizable EQ, FM tuner, built-in USB port so its just plug-in, then drag-and-drop, voice recording (don't know if you use that) plus it actually has a display where you can view the song thats currently playing. Also available with a neoprene armband from DLO, but check for some place to get it cheap.
A few cons though from what I've read is that the sound quality isn't as great as the usual iPod devices. And the display is only 2 colors, but IMO its better than none at all.
Another one to take a look at is the Sony NWS203. Very good sound quality, and comes with an armband included, but I read that SonicStage is a pain. Do your research first....

my cell phone, cause I carry it all the time anyway. What kinda phone do you have? if possible it will be cheaper to buy a data cord and memory card, if you phone can play music.

i have the apple in-ear buds that aren't too bad - but can slip out at times...do you want anything that wraps around your ear at all?

Ear buds suck IMO. If it is raining out or you start to sweat they slide right out and wont stay in. Pain in the ass to keep poking them in. I find the cheap headband jogging headphones to work just fine, at leas I didn't have any problems or discomfort through 3 miles.

I have an old Creative Zen Nano. It was on sale for $50 the other day. It runs all day with a AAA battery.
The new Zen Stone Plus is $70 with 2Gig in Amazon.
Fully loaded with FM, CD Recorder, play MP3/WMA/WAV, and a stop watch.
Drag and drop music just like a flash drive.
I don't think u can find anything this small that with a display.

I recommend these earphones for running, they fit pretty snug to my ear and has a clip to prevent the cords from dangling while jogging.
The Sansa Express that Costco mentioned also sounds like a good deal, also!

Was going to say I don't know....but yeah, ^^that looks like a good idea. Especially the cord clip...drives me nuts.

Hmm... I haven't run into that problem yet. Hopefully mine doesn't rip.

I've tried many players, one of the best for me has been the iaudio u3. It has advanced equalizer options and pushes out a lot of sound - I connect these players to an audio jack for my car and other players sound kinda muted in comparison. It is slightly smaller than a zippo. You can probably find it for around $100
I've used it in combo with my sony mdr ex71's for a couple years now without issues. Those sony's do have a thin wire though... if you want higher quality sound buds, try eshure's

I like my Iaudio U3 quite a bit. It has no clip, but it is small - about the size of my thumb.
I have the Sennheiser CX-300s capped with Double Flange Ultimate Ear tips.
If you push those in tight, they aren't coming out without a big fight.
[Edit: Looks like the 2GB model is discontinued - the 4GB one is $140, which is a bit over your budget. The shuttle by comparison is 1GB]

Best headphones I've owned to date. I've went through a football practice (hehe kept my helmet on the whole time so coach wouldn't catch me), then straight to the weightroom and kept em on even for the ride home, they were amazingly comfortable the whole time.
