I've had all brands of drives fail, but by far the worst failure records belong to WD and IBM. (Those $1 IBM's are not called "Deathstar" for nothing.)

SCSI or SATA/EIDE?

Seagate has the best SCSI drives, and with 5 year warranty with the EIDE and SATA versions they are betting on them big time.

How easy people forget that seagate pioneered the reduction of the normal 3 year HD warranty and knocked it down to 1 year. Other companies followed suite shortly after. Then a year later, seagate goes back to this 5 year crap. What a PITA for consumers.
