meh you don't need an octo core mac to do gigapixel anymore. Just get one of those GPGPU capable graphic cards for a few hundred bucks and CS4 they've got way more power than an 8 core intel.

I hope CS5 has alot more GPGPU capabilities.

 

That's not how Photoshop works. It only uses a GPU for rendering what you're viewing on the screen. Image calculations such as filters, merging, and so forth are still done by the processor(s).
