Apple to release $899 iMac

The leak comes from the Apple Education site

http://i.gizmodo.com/5177816/apple-l...ch-imac-at-899

this is probably due to the fact that sales have plummeted for Apple this quarter much worse than the rest of the industry

I wouldn't read too much into it. They needed something to replace the education eMac they have been selling for years. CRT FTL.

missed my point there. whenever i go anywhere with my laptop, sit down and open it up, some person with a mac will look at me with that holier-than-thou look as if owning a mac makes them more of an intellectual

After reading that I hate to point this out, but I think it is you who has the feeling of inadequacy and has nothing to do to with mac users/owners.

I have to agree. I dont really mind macs but the majority of their owners think they are the shit because of their computers.

I would definitely agree.
For me though, the issue is reliability and overall user-friendliness. I just don't trust windows based systems anymore.

I thought about building an 8 core windows system just to have strictly for gaming.

I will admit, I do miss some computer games when I switched to Apple.

there's plenty to do with 8 cores outside of gaming. such as gigapixel panoramas with Photoshop. ;p and audio, video.
