#1 STUNNA 09-09-2009 01:12 PM

so what's new in iPhone 3.1 again? besides the ability to do augmented reality apps. I wonder if I should stay with 3.0.1 to keep my tethering capability:ninja:

Moog-Type-S 09-09-2009 01:13 PM

:minister: MMS will only work with 3.1

Moog-Type-S 09-09-2009 01:14 PM

yea, I think it's just the touch.

I think the Zune HD competes better with the iTouch since it doesn't have a camera. Now the ZHD has to start getting some apps. I'd expect MS to announce the Zune software 4.0 soon. I mean it's gonna be released in 6 days, I'd like to know what I'm getting.

The only thing that really interested me was the pedometer in the nano. If Zune can expose the accelerometer in XNA, I think a pedometer app could be written. I actually wanted to see the social features come out in iTunes to see if there was a different (and possibly better) way to approach that concept. That's something I wish fanboys would understand is that duplicating functionality with a slight change or improvement is still advancement of a common idea. If Apple did come out with a subscription service, MS would really have to up their offering to counter it.

Still, price cuts and bigger sizes, keep the pressure on and we all win.

Sly Raskal 09-09-2009 01:20 PM

 no tablet. Guess I'm getting a kindle for the wifey.

Sly Raskal 09-09-2009 01:23 PM

iTunes 9 is available on apple.com now.

sho_nuff1997 09-09-2009 01:25 PM

Damn. I just bought my 16gb touch less than 6 months ago and now they are selling a 32gb for the same price. :annoyed:

Sly Raskal 09-09-2009 01:25 PM

crap, everyone is hitting the apple servers hard.

6 months is a long time if you ask me especially becuase of how fast technology changes.

Be happy that you didn't buy it yesterday.

When I put in my order for my MBP, before I even received it, Apple updated the Macbook Pro line to include faster processors and larger hard drives. But, I still couldn't change my order because it was already being built. Now that sucked. :whyme:

How was it before? Sync everything until it runs out of room? Can you prioritize?

That would suck. It is impossible to keep up with technology, I don't even know why I try. Luckily I bought my 24" Imac after they updated them.

I don't have that feature and I used my debit card. Although, this may be a good thing to add to my CCs. :ponder:

Impossible, yes. But we all know that around February is when Apple announces new hardware, September, iPods, etc.

So if you plan around those time frames, you're somewhat safer than buying those items one month before Apple's expected announcements. In that respect, it's easier to plan to buy Apple gear.

#1 STUNNA 09-09-2009 02:06 PM

they have a new welcome screen (kinda like in Vista) that shows up when you open for the first time and you can play video that discusses the new features. It's helpful.

Sly Raskal 09-09-2009 02:06 PM

Installing iPhone 3.1 OS as I type this.

#1 STUNNA 09-09-2009 02:08 PM

you can only use home sharing between computers that have the same itunes account. So you can share (but you can still stream) media between separate accounts.

doopstr 09-09-2009 02:09 PM

OMG, FM Tuner after all these years.

Moog-Type-S 09-09-2009 02:10 PM

You could auto sync, manual sync, random sync

Manual sync basically allowed you to make and sync playlist. Which is easy and works well, because its how I organize anyway.

But now you can sync by artist, genre, years....metadata info more or less. Which is awesome.

It would be a big reason to buy one for the wife. Gyms use FM tuners for TVs.

Now...new iPod Nano, passport or steam vac for the anniversary...

CocheseUGA 09-09-2009 02:29 PM

Nice. Waiting to update to 3.1 (from 3.0) until the dev team gives the say-so. And I'll be installing Win 7 Ultimate and iTunes 9 this weekend. Fun times.
