After doing the Math it comes out more monthly if I go Mobile Share with or without Next. This is just ATT's way to cirumvent TMo's ETF eating plan. ATT hates unlimited plan people who don't buy phones through them.
Rhetorical: Does the extra cost offset the need for a new device annually and a shitload of data?

Oh I must have read that Robservatory article wrong.
So what's the big deal then? Why pay up front when you can space it out over 24 months and pay the exact same? Seems advantageous for the consumer...

$130 for 2 lines 30GB less my 20% discount is $104 via Mobile Share. $40 per line x 2. $14 insurance 2 lines. $3 roadside. $25 tax estimate. $15 Beats Music both lines. $240. I pay $215 for Unlimited but have averaged only 3GB of data on my line the last 2 mos and the other line even less. So I pay $30 more for nothing.
With Next a Note 4 is $41.30 - 25 discount per line = $16.30 extra which is $391 over 2 years and I pay taxes up front. A new Note 4 is $300 on contract and likely much less next March when I'm up for upgrade plus $40 upgrade. Again the phone changing annually, I don't care for it.

For 30GB (15GB w/ promotion) it would be $130 + line access fee per. $100 + line access fee would be the 10GB tier.

I don't think switching to T-Mobile will be much different money wise but the service won't be anywhere near as good.

Doom, here's how it breaks down for me:
10GB Tier - $100
Line fee - $15 per (x3)
Taxes - $4.30 (x3)
Fan discount (24%) - -$24
$133.90 or so each month. You'd be about $115-118 on this tier before all your other stuff.
If I went to the 30GB tier:
30GB tier - $130
Line fee - $15 (x3)
Taxes - $5? (x3)
Fan discount - $31.20
Est: $155-159
10GB Tier - $100
Line fee - $15 per (x3)
Taxes - $4.30 (x3)
Fan discount (24%) - -$24
$133.90 or so each month. You'd be about $115-118 on this tier before all your other stuff.

Ahh, you just worded it oddly.
You pay too much. Don't go into another contract. There is literally no point.

when the family share plan came out i was really happy that AT&T is giving us a plan for a nice price but now i noticed the only way it's nice is if you don't plan to upgrade because no matter which option you choose to upgrade they will rape you either way which is BS. It would nice to keep the current plan, sign a 2 year contract and get the discount for the phone like it has been for the last 10 years or so.
Team Owner
You mean in March don't get a new phone? I'd rather pay like $50 on sale for a Note 4 that has been out a few months on sale than $600+. Either way my monthly is unaffected since I'm on the old Unlimited Plan.

I'll put it like this: for you to break even between contract and no contract, you'd have to be able to get your phone for $636 cheaper via the contract up front price. $36 activation, 24 months of $25.

I'm confused The situations I show above that you are losing with FS in my scenario. Say I get the phone for $100 or even $200 I still pay less over the 2 years and monthly. (I actually got my Note 2 for $1 six mos before the 3 came out).

You pay $40 for the line if you are in contract, $15 if you are not. Since they eliminated the good early upgrade pricing for contracts, you're paying that extra $25 over 24 months.
Plus activation fees when you don't BYOD.
I'm comparing Family Share plans to Family Share plans.

It's not. You pay less with the current plans if you BYOD than if you don't. Period.

I'm just saying we shouldn't have to do all this math to figure out the best path. Hidden fees, lines this, contracts that, it's not as simple as it used to be.

Before everyone was fooled into thinking that $200 was the cost of the phone.

When I switched from Unlimited to Next my plans ended up being right about the same cost. I also looked at T-Mobile and my rates would have gone up. In the end I traded unlimited data on one line for unlimited minutes and texts on all lines.

The only way to keep your monthly bill low is buying the phone outright but then your talking $650+ for a iphone 16gb. Next or 2 year contract will increase the monthly bill and that is what i don't like (never had my bill increase by signing a new 2 year contract before)

I got the non-plus 64 so it was cheaper then I told her as well (priced with 64 plus). Its like $25 more a month or something.

Is anyone have problems with the 6+?
My battery life isn't that good (3-4 hours being used sound normal)?
Apps are freezing and it feels sluggish at times. Apps probably just need to be updated to be fully compatible with the 6+.
One my biggest gripes is the landscape/portrait on the home screen. I don't know if my phone is just bad, but it keeps messing up. When I'm in portrait, it goes to landscape and vice-versa. Sometimes when I'm in portrait, it'll turn to portrait mode but it'll be flipped (180 degrees).
The screen doesn't look THAT good either. Usually when resolution is increased, the text would look sharper, and the font would 'seem' smaller as well. Instead, I feel like it is the same res. as an iPhone 5, but with a bigger screen. I use a 4k monitor/1600p monitor for work-related stuff along with school work so I was hoping a small difference in sharpness, but got none. :/
Is anyone getting the same problems? I may bring mine to Apple and see if any of this can be fixed.

Do a restore and see if that helps. Apps that aren't optimized for the 6's look just like iPhone 5 apps blown up (which is what is being done). The Facebook messenger app was like that. Before it looked like messenger blown up with huge font and giant keyboard. Now everything is smaller and the resolution is better.
My battery life is 10 hours of good use with about 1 day of standby time.
No issues with landscape/portrait
