JB and unlocking took forever when the iPhone first came out a few years ago. Not sure if this is when you are refering to but you had to put in certain digits in the emergency call screen, codes, and such. My first unlock took like 2 hours haha

Dammit my battery life is shit.
Installed: Lockinfo, SBsettings, BiteSMS, Five Icon Dock.
Installed & removed: Winterboard, FontSwap.
You guys think the uninstalls weren't complete? I normally don't get bad battery life from Lockinfo (weather retrieval set to 30 mins intervals).

Yeah i just re jail broke mine tonight after updating it to 4.0.1. Just the jailbreak I used you use Safari and put in a web site, and then it jailbreaks it from there. It worked 100% for me, and you don't lose anything that's already on your phone.

Nom Nom Nom Nom
I did the jb. I installed winterboard and it seems to scrunch the rows of icons together. Granted, I do not have any themes installed. That is just not the way that it would behave before.
Anyone else have that problem?

That was uncalled for...
Stupid question: When I eventually upgrade from my 3G to a 4, will I be able to plug it into my computer and Sync all of the songs and apps I had on my 3G?

^Just make sure you sync and backup your songs. They have to be in iTunes anyways so that they stay there when you sync. If they're not in iTunes, they'll disappear from your phone.

The unlock for iPhone 4 is now available!

Also it's been discovered that the security hole that Comex used in the Jailbreakme.com site is an overflow exploit in how the iPhone handles PDF fonts. It works by a website automatically loading a specially crafted PDF (different ones are required for different iDevices and iOSes) and once that hack works the site then has root access and while Comex used the flaw for "good" it could easily be exploited for bad use and give a hacker full control of an iDevice just by them going to a website and the site can automatically load a specially crafted PDF and gain root access. I've you done the jailbreak you've noticed that the hack is silent you never see a PDF load it just happens in the background. So you could be getting haxored and not even know it!
Now that there are according to Apple about 100 million iDevices out there this seems like a good hole to exploit. Currently there is no workaround and you should be careful when loading PDF files and only do if from a trusted source. Apple says they're looking into it. There is a tool on Cydia called "PDF Loading Warning" that will prompt you like a UAC prompt everytime a PDF tries to load that way one can't load without in the backgroun withoug your approval. So you're more secure if you jailbreak and load this app then if you don't jailbreak, though it doesn't plug the security hole it just won't let it be exploited without the users permission.

I was at a clients office today and I needed to download a 500mb file from HP's website for their all in one print/fax/scanner thing. Well they are cheap and they have slow ass internet and when I started the download it said was going to take 1hr!
I was like fuck that shit! So I whipped out my MBP turned on myfi on my iPhone 4 and downloaded the file over AT&T 3G in 20 minutes! Fuckin awesome! It was downloading at almost 500kb/s, pretty damn fast for 3G! I have the 2Gb data plan and I usually only use about 4-500mb a month so I should still have plenty of data left.
I wonder if it will tip AT&T off that I don't have a tethering plan, we will see....

2 questions.
Can you tether at no extra charge if you have the unlimited plan? I know with the new plans there's a charge but I got my iPhone right before the change.
If you have iOS 4.0+ and didn't jb, are you also vulnerable to the pdf hack?

No. Only when you jailbreak it (exposing root access)

Wrong. Doesn't make sense that you need to be jailbroken to expose root access and jailbreak through Safari. All devices are vulnerable to this exploit, which is why Apple is looking into it. If iDevices were in trouble only after a jailbreak, Apple wouldn't care since we're out of warranty at that point.

All iDevices are vulnerable, hacked or not.
