This is awesome, I love being able to run pandora in the background whle using safari. Thanks for the info Stunna!
Btw, I also hate the re assignment of the mute button... Wish they would have left it alone. I think the reason it doesn't actually mute the audio is that i think its meant more so to mute the sounds of like push notifications, emails alerts, etc. So if you are putting the device in your bag and don't want it to make any beeps or noises, you switch the slider in the mute position. But for media, you are still expected to adjust the volume manually. I don't like it, but that's the only explanation I can think of. Either that, or it's still buggy.

You know what my Phone does that too. Now I swear that I used to be able to mute my iPhone by using the switch. Did this change in iOS 4?
Wow, now the mute switch is even more useless. I get that they want to make the buttons uniform across all devices but I hardly get any system sounds on my iPad except for when I get an email. I can't make phone calls or receive texts on it so the only sound I get is an email alert or maybe a calendar alert.
I really don't like the fact that the video pauses when you double-tap the home button to enable orientation lock.
I'm glad the replaced one my most used features with a completely worthless one....

I think it was changed in iOS4.
I also noticed that things are still muted even if I got my headphones plugged in.
Iirc it wasn't like that before.

Apple just seeded 4.2.1GM to developers. Seems like they're skipping 4.2 and going right to 4.2.1
I'll be downloading it soon.....

So anyone know what they hell is fixed with 4.2.1? I wonder if they fixed an unknown major bug or security flaw and decided to patch it ASAP.

'Severe' VoIP Bug in iOS 4.2 Golden Master? [Update: Fixed in iOS 4.2.1]
Thursday November 18, 2010 03:08 PM EST; Category: iPhone
Written by Eric Slivka
Toktumi, the firm behind the popular Line2 VoIP application for iOS devices, today sent an email to its customers warning them of a bug in iOS 4.2 that results in the ringer continuing to ring even after a call is answered when Line2 is running in the background. According to Toktumi, Apple's engineers are aware of the issue, which reportedly affects all VoIP applications, and have classified it as "severe".
Attention all Line2 iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad users:
Please do not upgrade to iOS version 4.2.
If you upgrade to iOS 4.2 and you are running Line2 in the background, the ringer will continue to ring even after an incoming call is answered. This affects Line2 as well as all other VoIP and social calling apps. (Note: If you do not use Line2 your Toktumi service will not be effected.)
Apple Developer Support is aware of this issue and has designated its status as 'severe'. However, as of the most recent iOS beta (GMSeed build), this issue is still not resolved. We apologize for this inconvenience and will update you as soon as we get more information from Apple.
Line2 will continue to work as normal with your current operating system. We strongly encourage you not to install iOS 4.2 until Apple fixes the upgrade issue. We will send out an email update as soon as it is safe to upgrade.
Sincerely,
The Toktumi/Line2 Team
Apple released a golden master version of iOS 4.2 to developers on November 1st, and a public release was expected last week. Reported issues with Wi-Fi connectivity on the iPad have been blamed for delays from Apple's original internal timeline and resulted in Apple pushing out a revised golden master build for the iPad late last week.
Update: It is not yet known if the issue is addressed in the iOS 4.2.1 golden master that was just seeded to developers.
Update 2: One beta tester has informed us that this bug is indeed fixed in the new iOS 4.2.1 seed.

Hey unless you don't care for the warranty, dont buy from TJ Maxx or marshals
Page 2: Steve Jobs: T.J. Maxx Not an Authorized iPad Retailer
Friday November 19, 2010 12:30 PM
Yesterday, discount department store chain T.J. Maxx and its sister chain Marshalls made headlines with their offer of 16 GB Wi-Fi iPads for $399.99, a $100 discount from Apple's regular prices.
9 to 5 Mac now reports on a purported email response from Apple CEO Steve Jobs noting that T.J. Maxx is not, in fact, an authorized Apple reseller.
Q: Why would you let TJ Maxx of all places undercut the iPad prices by $100?
A: They are not an authorized reseller.
The unsurprising revelation explains the lack of official Apple promotional materials accompanying the sales, but questions remain regarding from where T.J. Maxx and Marshalls are obtaining their stock of the devices.
Apple is almost certainly investigating the circumstances behind these sales and may seek to address the issue of their discounted pricing, which is carefully controlled by Apple throughout its network of authorized resellers.

Why do you think it's like 10 bux cheaper at Walmart or something.
$100 off seemed fishy to me anyways.
It's like back in the day when my dad was trying to get a new plasma for cheap online. Alot of the places that were really cheap didn't include the warranty becausethey weren't authorized resellers.

I can't wait to see how aggressive TJ Maxx advertises this. If they put it on TV during Sunday's football games, Steve may implode.

Personally I'm just going wait for a 4.2.1 capable version of cydia to be released before JB. They say it's ready and working it just hasn't been released yet so it should be out very soon maybe within hours
