The exploit has been patched in Android 2.2.2 and above but of course only people with Gingerbread are safe by default. Google has already hit the killswitch for these apps and they should've been automatically uninstalled from affected phones but if you guys have downloaded any of the apps from MYournet then you should factory reset to be safe. You can read about it more here:

The good news is that this is easily patchable if you have a custom Recovery or root access. Follow this thread for info on downloads:

So do people recommend antivirus software for the Android? Or is it a waste of time?

Waste of time. Note that both Lookout and AVG did not catch any of these apps until it was published by Android Police. Just be smart about the apps you're downloading and you shouldn't even have to worry about such things.

The main focus of Espresso is the Theme Management which is now integrated into the new Sense UI. It introduced the Theme Management and had it before Sense did. Other than the icons, they are pretty much the same thing. Besides, both can be easily replaced with any home replacement launchers which will hide the Sense look if it bothers you that badly.

LOL... I have had another launcher (Launcher) so long... When I use the complete Sense UI... it seems pretty slow...

The clock isnt HTC sense. Its a part of it but not the whole thing by for. Its a UI over Android. Look at the buttons at the bottom of the screen on all the Android phones I showed you. There are other things like Friend stream and other things. If you have Sense, which version is your phone running? It'll tell you. T-mobile isn't really 4g either as they claim. AT&T also claim they are 4g but now people are complaining because their phones aren't hitting consistent 4g speed's only LTE and WiMax are true 4g networks. There are many stories that explain this. I was shocked to learn this. But I'm glad you like your phone. Like I said my sister-in-law has your phone. My brother chose to not and liked the Samsung Galaxy S better. Your phone is getting android 2.3 soon. Sprint isn't sure if they're updating EVO and the other 2.2 Froyo phones with 2.3 or wait for 2.4 which drops next month. But our phones cant be updated until HTC updates Sense to be compatible with the newest OS'.

I'll take vanilla android anyday over the manufacturers UI. I use widgets from market to make it look great!

I got a question, so the ROM I'm using got an update which I'm gonna do soon so I'm gonna do the whole factory reset and everything. But I got one question. With the NS 2.3.3 update the radio was updated and update for the radio was running around the xda forums. I did that. So when I do the factory reset and everything, will my updated radio get wiped?

I don't really understand any of this difference between the different UI options out there. My phone is a company phone, so my only real choices were the myTouch 4G, the G2, and Blackberry Bold. It's not like I was going to spend anytime shopping around. I'm happy with my choice. All that I know is my wife is jealous of it because she has an iPhone. :D

LG Optimus Pad Priced at €899 in Germany :what:

Just 24 hours after the dual-core iPad 2 was announced, the dual-core LG Optimus Pad (also known as T-Mobile’s LG G-Slate) has shown up on Amazon.de with an €899 price tag. The news comes just one week after the 10.1-inch Tegra 2-powered Galaxy Tab appeared in Portugal with a €700. Granted, tablets are typically more expensive in Europe than they are in the United States, but €900 is steep no matter what way you look at it.

The crazy thing is, earlier in the year, LG revealed the recommended retail price for the device was €999, so this price from Amazon Germany is actually a hundred euro less than what LG announced in its press release. The Optimus Pad has dual-cameras for shooting in 3D, a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, a 3D-capable 1280x768 display, and 32GB of storage. Worth €900 to those of you in Europe and thinking of picking up a tablet?
http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Amazon-d...ews-10334.html

I'm guessing it will be the same price in the US only in dollars.

I often wonder where you get your information. You are comparing screenshots and screens capture and stating its not HTC sense. Mt4g runs HTC sense version 1.00 (verified) Mytouch 4g has friendstream and I use it daily... Lastly no one has a true 4g network as Sprint is not launching theirs until 2013. Verizon is the closest to 4g, but still not 4g. :whyme:

Why would anyone pay $800+ for a tablet? I really think these things are way overpriced. Give me a a tablet that can run photoshop and then I will consider spending $800+.

I agree that $800 is out of my budget. But, given their portability and specs it doesn't seem too high. An unsubsidized smartphone is around $500 and you can't do as much as a tablet. Prices will go down on these tablets. This is the first iteration of dual core tablets and with any "new" technology, the initial pricing is usually high. Give it some time and you will see ps on the tablet. Heck I have a ps app on my phone. Granted it doesn't have the same functionality as the desktop app, but you get the point.

We looked at the macbook air this weekend because my g/f mac crashed and it was $999 and I laughed to myself. The laptop is super light, compact and fully functional. I then thought, why on earth would I buy a tablet:ugh: Considering the fact I strongly dislike apple... it just made more sense. As you said, I will wait for the damn things to fall under $300:]

(sorry for quoting an older post), so just to make sure... suppose I bought an unlocked HTC HD2 that was a T-Mobile phone, I can get 3g up here in Canada with Mobilicity, right? I don't really care about NOT getting 3g with AT&T now since it looks like I'm gonna be living up here (Vancouver) for awhile.

So I was looking at some emulators and I got the n64 emulator off of the android market, where do I get the ROMS for the games? anyone know?

CGFebTSX04 Mar 8, 2011 09:44 AM

I believe there are Apps in the market that'll download ROMs for you I forgot the name though. There are also a lot of torrents out there as well. The emulator works well but crashes once in a while. Otherwise its pretty good for a first release.

Im running the latest CM7 RC2 and I dont see music under the sync settings. Then again, Im not running the HC music player.

That said, RC2 is SOOOOOO much better then RC1. Im running Netarchy 1.2.5 CFS @ 800/1400, stripped out all the BS apps I wont use, and using the tangerine theme found here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886971 ) and Im loving the phone.

This boot screen is pretty cool too:

You need the Honeycomb music app. Its linked somewhere in that thread, I think page 2 or 3. You overwrite the Music Player found in CM7. It's what allows the cloud sync for music and whatever other stuff Google has in the works to their servers and seems to be kernel dependent. Wish the CM7 for the Galaxy S was more stable and easier to flash instead of having to repartition to yaffs2 from Samsung's RFS. Scared of destroying my internal SD Card although that's more on Samsung than user error.

thanks, i'm gonna be runnin rc2 soon also. The ROM i have has RC1 but with a more stock GB look. Not a fan of ADW. That developer updated to RC2 so I'll be running that with Netarchy 1.2.7 i believe. RC1 hasnt been the most stable for me. Twice I've had it go on a reboot and start looping the reboot over and over and then it would say something about system.android failed or something and I'd have to reflash the ROM. Hopefully RC2 is better.

speedemon90 Mar 8, 2011 04:50 PM

cant download n64 roms on that site unless i'm a unlimited user. Got any others? And when I'm looking for ROMs if it asks what i'm running it for does it have to for android? Or do i just get any file for the pc and drag it over to the sd card?

edit: i think i found one roms4droid.com

If you want to run the official CM7 from Cyanogen, flash this afterwards:

http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/1...cm7-gb-mod-30/

It removes all the CM apps as well as ADW and gives you vanilla Android. Facebook and Twitter is there, but I used Root Explorer to remove them.

That sucks. I havent been on that site in awhile, it looks like they redesigned it too.

When I was running emulators, I would just download a ROM from the site I posted and put it on the sdcard. They would work properly.

speedemon90 Mar 8, 2011 09:16 PM

I think I'm gonna stick to my ROM i have, I've seen the one you are talking about on xda-developers but the one i have already did that and put in the netharchy kernel so its kinda like an all in one package that I want. So I'm cool with that.

civicdrivr Mar 8, 2011 11:02 PM

Makes sense. I go on XDA once in a blue moon (today was the first time in about 3 weeks) so I usually get my updates through Rom Manager or cyanogenmod.com.

I was running the Netarchy 1.2.4 kernel and just realized they are up to 1.2.7 (testing) :tomato:

sho_nuff1997 Mar 8, 2011 11:49 PM

Hmm. I tried the nightly mod 13, but it went into a boot loop after it got to the lock screen. Ran fix permissions and cleared dalvik cache from recovery and it booted. I ran Ti backup and restored apps and data. Fix permissions from ROM Manager and reboot, but never makes it past cyanogen screen with circling arrow.

Data wipe/factory reset from recovery and installed RC2 and same problem. Seems like Ti backup has something to do with this? I am going to try to just reinstall apps with no data and see what happens. Also, when I do the factory reset, should it be from recovery or the bootloader?

civicdrivr Mar 8, 2011 11:54 PM

I wiped from Clockworkmod recovery.

I dont use Ti backup so I dont know if that could be your issue. I had an odd occurance when I first flashed it but I think that was due to the kernel I flashed at the same time.

CGFebTSX04 Mar 9, 2011 12:08 AM

If you have ADB installed, you can connect the phone to your computer and run ADB logcat while its at the bootscreen. It should tell you where it's getting stuck or whether or not the phone is deodexing and still booting normally just taking a while (happens if you have a lot of apps).

Open up a command prompt:

adb shell logcat
Oh and yes, data restore from TiBackup may sometimes causes errors when jumping to a new ROM, probably this one due to the new kernel. Might want to start fresh with some app data.

sho_nuff1997 Mar 9, 2011 12:10 AM

civic - What do you use to backup your apps?

civicdrivr Mar 9, 2011 12:15 AM

Ive actually gotten into the habit of reinstalling most of my apps manually, especially those from the Market since they reinstall on their own. Most of them allow me to backup directly to the sdcard so I dont lose my data.

sho_nuff1997 Mar 9, 2011 12:16 AM

Thanks. I restored just the apps with Ti backup. I'm afraid to reboot now because I need to get some sleep. I'll run the logcat tomorrow if it gets stuck at the boot screen.

speedemon90 Mar 9, 2011 04:18 AM

thats weird, i hope this isnt a problem with RC2 haha, I'm pretty sure most of the rooted uses have Ti backup.

I'll have RC2 in a couple days probably. Can I ask why you are rebooting after running the restore? I never do it? And what do fix permissions on ROM manager do? I dont do either of those.

sho_nuff1997 Mar 9, 2011 07:42 AM

I restored from Ti backup and then ran fix permissions in ROM manager. After you run fix permissions, ROM manager says you should reboot.

Fix permissions fixes a lot of the FC issues from the apps and a new ROM.

I don't know that it was Ti backup persay, but it was the system data that was backed up there. My last ROM was Enomther, so the data was from a different kernel and the new ROM didn't like it.

Not an expert, but that's my theory.

CGFebTSX04 Mar 9, 2011 01:51 PM

Here's an interesting custom UI setup using ADWLauncher. They call it "Ninja Apps" because the app icons are transparent. He created a wallpaper with icons in different parts of the homescreen and created transparent icons corresponding to the apps on the wallpaper. Pretty cool.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xJf3RWmCWQ

civicdrivr Mar 9, 2011 03:16 PM

Thats sick.

I just had an odd occurance with my phone while taking pictures. I went into the gallery and started flipping through the pics I just took, the phone froze then rebooted. The sdcard refused to remount upon start up. I had to force it through settings. All seems well now.

Has anyone had that happen before? Anything signs I should look for?
