I pissed the fans off in my Yankee jersey at the last game of the season against the Padres, I'll be wearing my Johnny Damon World Series jersey & WS hat to these games, I hope they like me then!

A game:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each. The goal is to score runs by hitting a thrown ball with a bat and touching a series of four bases arranged at the corners of a ninety-foot square, or diamond. Players on one team (the batting team) take turns hitting against the pitcher of the other team (the fielding team), which tries to stop them from scoring runs by getting hitters out in any of several ways. A player on the batting team can stop at any of the bases and later advance via a teammate's hit or other means. The teams switch between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team records three outs. One turn at bat for each team constitutes an inning; nine innings make up a professional game. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.

Evolving from older bat-and-ball games, an early form of baseball was being played in England by the mid-eighteenth century. This game and the related rounders were brought by British and Irish immigrants to North America, where the modern version of baseball developed. By the late nineteenth century, baseball was widely recognized as the national sport of the United States. Baseball on the professional, amateur, and youth levels is now popular in North America, parts of Central and South America and the Caribbean, and parts of East Asia. The game is sometimes referred to as hardball, in contrast to the derivative game of softball.

In North America, professional Major League Baseball (MLB) teams are divided into the National League (NL) and American League (AL). Each league has three divisions: East, West, and Central. Every year, the major league champion is determined by playoffs that culminate in the World Series. Four teams make the playoffs from each league: the three regular season division winners, plus one wild card team. Baseball is the leading team sport in both Japan and Cuba, and the top level of play is similarly split between two leagues: Japan's Central League and Pacific League; Cuba's West League and East League. In the National and Central leagues, the pitcher is required to bat, per the traditional rules. In the American, Pacific, and both Cuban leagues, there is a tenth player, a designated hitter, who bats for the pitcher. Each top-level team has a farm system of one or more minor league teams. These teams allow younger players to develop as they gain on-field experience against opponents with similar levels of skill.

Otherwise he'd have to take out a loan to get a beer.

Correct. At the end of the season when the schedule was set they said the 15x.000 available tickets (stadium capacity X three games) would be available in a lottery, you signed up & got a chance to buy.

I did it and my Wife did it to double our chances. I lost, she won.

I still get to go (hopefully) I created a calendar event for 8:55am (it starts at 9am) Thursday, I will log into the site with the password they sent and do my best to get tickets to all three games.

thats crazy, they should do it how the saints are handling tickets.

season tickets are sold out for multiple years to come, but they reserve X amount of general admission tickets to be put on sale (in bulk and individual) for every home game.

when they go on sale though, its a matter of a minute or two window for the entire season worth of tickets... crazy shit.

and of course scalpers. they probably make up about 10% of the seats and charge x2 the money. the cheapest shitties tickets you can buy are $200

I've heard that venues reserve whats called shadow seats (?) for online scalpers to buy and these seats are usually the best seats in the house and cannot be bought by the general public. Once they are bought, the scalpers jack the price way up to prey on those eager fans who missed the initial one or two minute window to buy them at regular cost. Online ticket buying has really made it hard to go see your favorite band at face value (sporting events not so much because there always seems to be tickets available although you will pay up the ass for good seats), if you want to go to see your favorite band you either have to buy tix the second they go on sale (and if you're lucky you'll get mediocre seats at best, thanks Ticketbastard), pay double what the face value is or don't go at all; it sucks! These days I usually go through Craigslist .

At least you got them. They did the same thing when the Yankees played the Marlins last year. I won the chance to buy tickets. And then their system was so overloaded at 10am start time you couldn't get on the website to buy them. I didn't get on till 11:15. By then there were only crap seats. I passed.
4 days before the games I was able to buy good seats direct off the marlins website for all 3 games.

My plan is to try to get the other two games although I spent quite a bit more than I intended (150 + Ticketthief fees) per, but if I can get something in section 117 or similar I'll jump at them.
