Congrats to the White Sox and their fans who waited even longer then Boston did!!

Sorry, saw this a little late but wanted to answer for ya...

1) Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell. They've been on the team their whole careers. When they were a bit younger and completely awesome... they called them the "Killer Bees" (get it... b/c both last names start with the letter B). Well, it stuck... and as long as they're on the Astros it will probably stay with the organization.

2) Yeah, just a nickname. Kind of like calling the Yankees the Yanks, Red Sox the Sox, Angels the Halos, etc. Most clubs have a shorter abbreviation. Adds some variety so you don't have to say Astros all the time... you can mix it up a bit

I think you're right... however, it didn't start with him... it originated with Biggio and Bagwell. I don't count him either... he hasn't paid the dues that the other two have

The original Bee's were Biggio, Bagwell and Derek Bell. Berkman came later after Bell left.

congrats to the life-long Sox fans who were with their team the entire way (dont know if there are many "diehards" on this site )

i was at my buddy's house last night (Skokie, North suburb) with the 4 most diehard Sox fans i know on the Northside. I was cheering with them all the way, but i just did not have the heart they did. After the win, we opened up a bottle of champaign and threw it all over the family and friends in the kitchen. My 4 friends and one's younger brother took off at around 11:15 to 35th for the celebration. I will never forget the moment in which my buddy's dad, a life-long Sox fan, gave his 2 sons a very emotional hug of congrats.

After the sox fans took off, i got into the car and all the energy drained out of me. I felt juust about as demoralized as when the Cubs blew it in 2003. Being the uber Cubs fan that I am, i 1.) couldnt relate to my friends and 2.) have to live with the fact that i will never be able to participate in such a frenzy.

Good for you guys, 2005 WS Champs.

Well, they were surprisingly subdued throughout...may have had to do with the fact that the ChiSox just were that good in shutting them up whever Houston looked like they could possibly score.

does anybody find it funny how Sox fans are STILL attacking Cubs fans? A WS title and you'd expect them to be happy and celebrate, yet i still hear it from these bums.

It's something I read about in terms of Chicago's split in the teams and the people's rationale behind their hatred for the other team...but still don't understand it.

CHICAGO White Sox. CHICAGO Cubs. They both represent Chicago. Good grief.

don't stop believing!!

think the gap will close between the Sox and Cubs fans now.

my friend who is from Seattle asked me why the rivalry is that bad between the Cubs and Sox. I'm like it's not as bad as the Red Sox/Yankees. but, he told me why the Cubs are still popular, he said they are losers, why would any person cheer for losers? Told him it's a Chicago thing.

Cubs fans stereotype= upper-middle class+, white, "starbucks", etc..

Sox ...= working class, southside Irish/Italian, "fuck the Cubs, we dont get enough attention"

In complete neutrality; Sox fans typically "hate" Cubs fans more due to the told fact that the media and general Chicago public consider this town a Cubs town. Most Cubs fans took joy in cheering for the Sox. Sox fans on the other hand, typically would rather see the Cubs loss miserably than beat any team.

In my opinion (along with what is stated above), the Sox don't have a rival is intense as the Cubs do in STL, and may therefore look to the "wealthier, better treated" per say northside as an arch rival. Most Cubs fans hate the Cards and simply disrespect the Sox BECAUSE of their lack of attention given.

Anybody else care to chime in explaining this stuff?

Which is why I think the divide is stupid. They both represent Chicago...and as a Chicagoan, I'm not afraid to cheer for either teams.

That's the loss for the snobs...I thought the Series was quite entertaining. C'mon, all the games were decided by 2 runs or less!

And the lawsuit =

World Series Is Lowest-Rated Ever
Oct 27 10:44 PM US/Eastern

NEW YORK

The Chicago White Sox's first world championship in 88 years was also the lowest-rated World Series ever.

Chicago's four-game sweep of the Houston Astros averaged an 11.1 national rating with a 19 share on Fox. That's down about 7 percent from the previous low, an 11.9 with a 20 share for the 2002 World Series between the Anaheim Angels and the San Francisco Giants.

While the 2002 World Series, which went seven games, rated higher overall, it was only averaging an 11.0 through four games.

This year was a drop of almost 30 percent from last year's series, in which the Boston Red Sox swept the St. Louis Cardinals for their first title in 86 years. That had a 15.8 rating with a 25 share.

Wednesday night's 1-0 Chicago win had a 13.0 preliminary national rating with a 21 share. It was the highest-rated prime-time show on Fox since the final of "American Idol" in May, but still not enough to save the series from being the lowest-rated.

Despite rating so low in comparison to other World Series, the four games of this series were each the highest rated prime-time network programs on their respective nights.

Meh, it's cuz it didn't have the marquee status of the Yankees or Red Sox...

But, hey...it was a good series. And besides, who cares, ChiSox are Champs!
