Don’t know what you’re talking about, but it seems doubtful it belongs here.

She’s allowed to have an opinion and she’s allowed to risk the platform she built by speaking from it.

This isn’t one of those, “she should shut her mouth and ski,” approaches is it?

no defintiely not. Of course she's allowed to have an opinion. I was just saying she's probably getting more media attention because of it?

Hockey team got crushed... Not really fair since US pros are not playing. They should have at least got into some fights and drew some blood. Poor representation for US hockey.

No, it's the Olympics who to blame for this.

The NHL tried, IMO, to ask for reasonable provisions...which the Olympic Committee refused. End of the day, the superstars that are under contract from their clubs are being sent over to play at their owners' full-risk.

If say, a Sidney Crosby or Patrick Kane got injured playing for their countries, think about the impact they have at a business-level to their hockey clubs in the NHL. The IOC gave the NHL zero incentives to send their players this time and so, rightfully, the NHL sat out. It sucks for US the fans that the players are not playing but from a business standpoint, I completely agree with the League.

I agree with the league, it just sucks for the American and Canadian fans.

I can understand from the Olympics perspective as well. If they provided the NHL with the insurance they desired, then they'd end up having to do the same for the other leagues/sports leaving much less money for them to steal.

I watched 5 min of the CAN vs CZE hockey match yesterday. It was awful to watch. Huge difference between NHL players and whomever is playing now.

I have not watched as much but I believe it was on CBC. At least the good thing here is that we get a couple of networks that cover the Olympiques.

US Women's Hockey going for Gold. Hopefully they can chop down the Canadians this time around! The gf's sister is over there rooting her BF's little sister on. She is having an awesome experience seeing it first hand.

If guns killed people, the biathlon would be canceled. It is pretty intense to watch. Skiing then trying to catch your breathe. What is the distance they shoot, anyone know?

I don't know anything about it, but those guns don't look like they would even break the skin

IIRC 50 meters.

When they are prone, they aim for a target the size of a golf ball. When standing the target is the size of a DVD.

not too difficult to do under normal conditions, but then you have to factor in their heart rate is probably around 180-190bpm since they just skied whatever distance the course is set at.

I was able to watch the men's 15km mass start. Pretty intense how you can be in the lead but one missed shot puts you behind. Or it other skiers miss it puts you closer to first.

theyre shooting 22LR. Majority of the athletes use an Anschutz rifle with Fortner action. Also they're shooting with iron sights (aperture sights)

Thanks for clearing that up. I did look it up after I asked the question because I wanted to know. Pretty crazy its all iron sights at 50M. No super far but under those conditions, it can't be easy!

Yea it most definitely is not easy.

Its pretty funny to read the comments by target shooters saying "how card can it be? i can stand and shoot dimes at 50 meters"... how about try doing that with your heart rate at 180BPM..

Its also interesting to note that with how much the USA loves guns, we are actually terrible at the Biathlon. USA has never medaled in the Olympics. We only recently (i think last year) medaled in the World Cup.

US of A is getting beat up on the medal count. Almost embarrassing, but then again its nice to see other countries finally being able to compete.
