Honestly, I don't know a whole lot about the Suns, But I've seen both their playoff games so far, and they haven't impressed me much. They're athletic, and makes some great blocks and get up and down the floor, but they're just outscoring Memphis. If they had some sort of defense, they'd be blowing Memphis out by 20 every time.
Richardson did make a key well timed defensive play last night that probably won the game for them. But as it is, Gasol is dominating them inside, and Jason Williams can get by Nash anytime he wants. I expect Memphis to win one or maybe even both at home. But Good luck to the suns when they come up against Houston or SanAntonio.

Sorry, I didn't leave them out because they're going to lose to Houston. I left them out because, much like the Sonics, they rely more on outscoring the other team than they do on solid defense. And I think the Suns hold the advantage in that area over both the Sonics and the Mavs. So good luck to the Mavs if they come up against the Suns

There was one stretch in the Suns game last night in the 3rd quarter where Gasol was going nuts. He was dunking and playing defense like a madman. The announcer was talking about how Coach Fratello chewed him out and asked "do you really want to play" and boy did he respond. I fell asleep shortly after but I guess the intensity fell off in the 4th.

Everyone is knocking the mavs on Defense, and traditionally they have never been known as a defensive team.
But defense is been their primary focus ever since Avery Johnson stepped in as head coach and they have made significant improvements in the defensive arena over the last season.
You can't go from bottom to the top defensively in a short span of time, but at least give them credit for making improvements in the area. No denying it though, their defense blows against Houston.
Fuckin' pick 'n rolls all night long, and they can't seem to do a damn thing about it. Good god.

I want Dallas to win so badly, but Houston is at the top of their game right now, and extremely tough to beat.
Guess I'll be out of $20.00 and sporting a damn Rockets avatar if Dallas doesn't turn things around.
which reminds me, Kobie, did you see the edit I made to our bet regarding team logos and avatars for the loser in your TVR / Lambo video thread?

that's okay. just about everyone doesn't give respect when respect is due. the Sonics were expected to be a lottery team this year so just making it to the playoffs is making many experts eat crow.

I didn't say they don't play defense, I just said that they rely primarily on outscoring their opponent to win ball games. It's not the Sonics I don't respect, it's the Kings.

I was reading the Chicago Tribune earlier today and it got me thinking. The question that popped up in my head was "Are the Bulls the future of the NBA". After thinking about it a bit I came up with these conclusions. The Bulls have a young team with a lot of potential. Gordon, Curry, and Hinrich could develop into superstars. Shaq called Curry "The next dominant center in the game"(parphrasing). Shaq usually doesn't say things like that, so I was impressed in that quote. Gordon needs some work on his defenesive skills and his game needs to mature a bit. Next, I looked at the supporting cast. Statistically, the Bulls bench is #1 in the league right now in scoring. We have a pretty extensive bench; kind of reminds me of the Championship years. The Bulls this year will get beat in the second round, but I am perfectly fine with this. The playoff experience for the team is valuable. If the team stays together, watch out!

that's what's the best thing about sports, it's "real" reality tv. anything can happen. i still believe in the bulls and believe in them. i've been with them through rough times
- jordan's retirement
- pippen leaving and retiring
- losing jalen rose
that's what being a fan is all about

IMO, they have the best 6th (gordon), 7th (chandler), and 8th (nocioni) guy in the league.
Who were the stars of game 2? Pargo and Piatkowski? shiiit... there like the 10th and 11th guy on this team!

Van Gundy was pissed because he over exerted himself on Wade our star player. Dirty or not it was still stupid and he was pissed they were getting their asses handed to them. Haslem straightened out the situation though.
Oh and he was also called dirty for his next stupid foul a few games later. Not to mention he has a rep in I think it was the Spain League that he was in as being dirty.
Besides guys like Eddie Jones, Zo, and Shandon Anderson know how to play defense without getting called dirty.

I didn't get a chance to watch the Detroit game where he elbowed Prince, but my dad said it looked unintentional.

Right I agree it wasn't anything major but it was the Heat's perception as being more than that given the situation resulting in Van Gundy's "crying." Apparently Nocioni's intensity needs to be controlled.

Please enlighten me on a better 8th man. The guy scored 25 points and grabbed 18 boards in his first playoff game.

He's a guy that if he were in Dallas would play ahead of Jerry Stackhouse, Keith Van Horn, and Devin Harris because of one game right. A guy who in that one "spectacular game" didn't even hit half of his shots (8-18). You Bulls fanboys are amazing. Still looking for Jordan huh.
Did I say he would play ahead of Stackhouse (dallas' 6th man)? no.
Did I say he would play ahead of Keith Van Horn (7th)? no.
Is he better than Devin Harris (8th)? YES.
Have you ever watched the guy play? He's got more energy and he's a better defender than all three of the above washouts combined.
.. and yeah, us "Bulls Fanboys" are amazing.
