Right. Here's hoping those guys can pitch too then! Cuz, the Yanks are going nowhere without anyone who's able to throw the ball!

There is no one out there worth picking up. Hopefully by the all star break someone will be frustrated and want an over priced contract and come to the Yanks..Hopefully Randy Johnson will stop giving up homers, Mussina doesn't burn out and Pavano actually pitch a game, Chacon continue what he did last year, and Wang do the same. All you need is 3 quality pitchers and a bullpen. So if Farnsworth isn't a bust the pitching ain't that bad.

I remember (as do most Cubbies fans) Farnsworth in his days in Chicago...so much potential but never able to live up to it. He definitely turned it around in Atlanta.

Here's hoping for the Yanks that he can handle the pressure of being in NY and responds to the coaching staff.

As for the rotation, I see only Moose as the pitcher that would give any team worries as Pavano and Johnson just are not as good as they used to be (or whatever else). But, hey...I've been wrong before.

No one out there worth picking up?

are you kidding? Why don't they trade one of their 5 future hall of fame hitters for a pitcher, there is no reason the Yankees could not go out and get any pitcher they want. Give me one good reason the Yanks didn't pursue Barry Zito?

Those are a lot of things to hope for, good luck

Only said Zito because he was available. They don't need to pay for a pitcher, they can trade for one without a salary change.

Beckett don't want him, he's just like Pavano who is only gonna play 1/4 of the season..Burnett would of been nice though..I'm content with the pitching staff not happy but content , if they perform like they did before 2005 it can be a good staff except for Sturtze he still sucks pre 05 and post 05

The yanks just need some tweeks to the pitching staff... and a center fielder...

The sox don't have a first baseman or a shortstop and might lose 2/3 of the outfield, but we've got 3 third basemen

Damn, I love what the sox have done this offseason

Oh, I know... I'm joking... I like what they have done, but there's still alot that has to fall into place... April is a long way off, but we'll have a better picture come the end of January...

Youk at first, Cora at short, and Murphy (from portland) in the OF...

If we keep Manny and Damon, it actually doesn't look that bad, but you know they aren't done yet

I'd rather have Beckett. Any Yank would know why.

We had Pavano... He was the sox propect we traded to get Pedro from Montreal...

When Pedro was playing for the Sox the last couple of years, alot of us fans were waiting for his arm to fall off or explode or something It never happened and Petey helped bring a WS to Boston

Lets see what happens next season... the Sox/Yanks schedule looks interesting next year..

I don't like it... Up here, we like to have one person to BLAME if things go bad... if things go good, we won't know who to thank either

Theo might come back... “The door has been ajar for some time and until the time Theo goes to work for another organization, we’ll keep a light on in the window,” Lucchino said. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSo...ticleid=116818

Henry (principle owner) surposebly offered Theo the President of Baseball Operations job, but Theo hasn't accepted it...

My take ?? Theo will be a special consultant... Sorta like Jerry Kapstein (Senior Consultant to baseball operations) is... Depending on what happens with Larry, Theo might come back with a bigger role in the organization. I think that Larry and Theo get along, but the problem is that Theo doesn't want to report to Larry and have to get ever deal ok'd by larry... Larry should deal with the business operations and Theo will deal with the Baseball operations... Seems like Henry fucked up and didn't settle this early last year when he had the chance. Henry has said "maybe I'm not fit to be the owner of this team" before...

The buzz has a decent summary (scroll down past the torre/damon-nomar stuff )

http://www.boston.com/sports/basebal...xtras/thebuzz/

Only a matter of time before rejoining Sox?
The Sox refused to say how long the current co-GM arrangement will last ("We're not talking about duration of contract," Larry Lucchino said), which should not be taken as a referendum on the skills of the new GM tandem, but a concession that the deck will be reshuffled again as soon as Theo Epstein comes back aboard. Evidently, the title will be different, Epstein preferring to be known as consultant or adviser or consigliere, but it defies credulity to believe he will come back with any less authority than he had when he left Oct. 31. Gerry Callahan writes in Tuesday's Herald, "One source close to the Sox front office said yesterday that Henry offered Epstein the position of 'president of baseball operations' 2 1/2 weeks ago." In some ways, Epstein never has left: Both Cherington and Hoyer freely admitted yesterday they have been in regular contact with Epstein, who hasn't been afraid to weigh in on the personnel moves the club has made."You're getting ahead of yourself," Lucchino said when asked how Epstein would fit in. "I think it's premature to discuss exactly what role, if any, Theo would have. So all we're saying is we'll keep the light on at the window, the door ajar. If there's a fit, we'd love to see it happen." The olive branch has been extended. The light is burning in the window. There is no deadline, Lucchino said, for Epstein to offer his answer to the invitation. But it looks as though he already has.

By default, Bradley would LOWER the value of any trade he's in...So, you have to add players to make the other team take him. Consider him as negative in value.

Me neither. The Cubbies could've used Vazquez more than the ChiSox...esp. for what was given up for the guy (El Duque, Vizcaino, and minor leaguer), I'm surprised Hendry didn't try to go after him...

Young's supposedly got alot of potential and is rated by Baseball America as the Sox's fastest baserunning and most athletic prospect...

Overall he's ranked 6th in their farm system...

And no, he's never played above Double-A...

Just saying.

As weird as it is, I follow both Chicago teams...and as far as needs, the Cubs need way more than the ChiSox esp. in pitching.

The rotation of Zambrano, Prior, and Wood (for 1/3 the season if lucky) is not effective. Then, it's a tossup between Rusch, Maddux, and Williams...all who are really 5th pitchers and not a 4th guy.

Lowell and Youk are probably going to fight during spring training on who gets first or third...

But in the end, Lowell will probably be on 3rd, Youk on 1st... Unless the sox pick up another 1st baseman a Youk is the odd man out again

We like Youk...

Any name that resonates through the fans at Fenway like "youk" does already has a leg up.

But I like him too - lots of potential, especially if they give him a chance to settle in. I didn't realize that they had (4) listed as 3rd basemen before this.
