Well I finally learned something from this thread -- pride is only available in increments of 0.1%!

Who knew?

definitely, a rematch would be sweet...

I don't see Seau and Bruschi retiring after this... Moss will be back, Welker is still there, Maroney has improved, although we will probably lose Samuel, i see them adjusting fine back there, they will draft well and make pickups to beef up any weaknesses...

although I doubt it, imagine if they go undefeated next season, now that would be fucked...

is NE expected to keep and use it or trade it down for multiple picks.

i'd think they'd want to trade down for multiple picks and fill in gaps.

Great teams also but they both experienced a loss during the regular season.

Sure. But IMO, they're 18-1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NE's 18-1.

You have to show up to the biggest game of them all.

No question on the latter but going the entire regular season undefeated (despite the denouement) was only accomplished one other time....which is no small acheivement. Admittedly, it is little solace when falling short at the big show.

many people put the 85 Bears as then number 1 team of all time...

You can't even mention the Pats as one of the greatest teams of all time if they didn't win the big one.

I guess you could call them one of the greatest regular season teams of all time, but really that means nothing.

Considering Brady has more Super Bowl rings than both of them combined, I'd say

def no...

Brady > Peyton >>> Eli

Brady only gets the slight edge for more superbowls... As much as I hate Peyton I respect him...

Eli has really had only 1 good run, let's see if he can keep it up next year before even throwing him in the same ring as Peyton and Brady...

I did not go as far as to call them one of the greatest teams of all times. Rather I originally stated:

where I probably should have inserted the word 'regular' between 'a' and 'season'. ....the idea being that 16-0 is still an accomplishment in and of itself.

16-0 is an accomplishment, indeed, because they're the only team to have done it.

personally, i think this patriots team is the best team i've seen. but i don't think they should be ranked with the all-time greats because they didn't win the superbowl. (if that makes sense.)

they fell short and they'll be first to admit that 16-0 is nothing if you couldn't win the big game. but i don't think we should still discount the team and what it achieved.

and i was just kidding about peyton > eli > brady.

I dont think I have ever come across anyone who hates Peyton.....save for Bost...er....New England fans who do not want any thunder taken away from pretty boy Tom.

As far as the Eli-Peyton comparo, granted I do not expect Marino-Elway passing numbers out of Eli but both he and Peyton are carting around with a ring each...and both are Super Bowl MVPs. So AFAIAC they are in the same ring. If anything, Eli has the edge in getting the Giants to the show in less time (since his arrival) than Peyton did for the Colts.

comment wasn't really directed towards you.. more of a general statement.

Sadly I think this Patriots team will be known as the greatest team not to win the Super Bowl.

i respect Peyton, he is a great QB...

I just don't get why Brady gets all this hate outside of New England? Should he do some more commercials?

The guy is fairly clutch and gets the job done... I blame the loss on Sunday to the offensive line not being able to hold back a great NYG pass rush... If they were able to hold back that rush and get him more time in the pocket i think the score would be different...

several reasons:
1. he's successful and an overachiever. 3 superbowl rings before the age of 30.
2. he's clutch. say what you want about the loss, but he did get the offense down the field in the second to last drive. it's not his fault that the defense couldn't stop the giants on the final drive.
3. he's a good-looking guy and dates hot models and actresses.
4. he plays on the patriots and for belichick. and boston's like NY. you either love them or hate them.
5. spygate certainly hasn't helped.

I wonder... if Asante Samuel snags that interception, what we would be saying about Eli right now.

Shows you how fine of a line there is between success and failure.

Lusty fans of Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen are set for a big disappointment -- the stunner has dismissed reported plans to run naked through New York.

Bundchen allegedly told friends she'd run nude through the Big Apple if her boyfriend Tom Brady's New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl to the New York Giants.

But her representatives insists the story is bogus and Bundchen won't be putting on her running shoes after the Giants' surprise win on Sunday.

A spokeswoman for the model says, "She didn't say it. This is ridiculous."

I don't get it either. He hasn't done anything to deserve it IMO.
