NFL: Junior Seau Dead

just heard on the radio. Junior Seau is dead from an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound. Will post link shortly.

Hmmm no story yet on nfl.com or espn.com, but already on wikipedia.

If its true, then

from everything I saw of him during his time with the Pats he was a standup guy. Someone said that they heard he put in his suicide note to donate his brain for research, that he had become too unstable due to the injuries he sustained.

You have to wonder whether concussions led to suicidal thoughts.

Almost a guarantee I'd say; does it say anywhere how many he might have sustained? You can get one, maybe two, serious concussions in your life and be fine but after that, good luck...

Seau was truly one of the iconic players of the 1990's and 2000's, such a sad day. He will be missed.

"Seau becomes the eighth member of those '94 Chargers, who lost Super Bowl XXIX to the 49ers, to die at a young age. The others: Chris Mims, David Griggs, Rodney Culver, Lewis Bush, Curtis Whitley, Shawn Lee and Doug Miller."

According to early reports there was NO NOTE. However, there are similarities between his death and that of former Chicago Bears player Dave Duerson, WHO DID LEAVE A NOTE shortly before he took his own life last year. Read on:

R.I.P Junior, but at the same time I am torn because HE LEAVES 3 TEENAGE KIDS BEHIND!! We will never know what pain and suffering he endured, but what he did was a selfish act and the act of a COWARD!! And his children will hate him for the longest time before they ever let it go and have fond memories of him again. And his own mother on the news crying and wanting to trade places, gut-wrenching!

How many of you fathers would put your own family in that situation. Dying is easy, life is hard. SUCK IT UP BITCHES!!!

Well if reports of him being mentally unstable are true, that is most likely the reason he did it. All those hits he gave and endured probably did some damage to his brain, which would cause him to make decisions he wouldn't normally make.

No...they wont feel better. But at least they'd have an understanding that he wasn't in his "right mind" when the act was committed.

Who are you to judge him and call him a selfish coward. What a jackass. I am sure your screen name says it all slick rick, since rappers are such great upstanding people.

That is yet to be confirmed and we might never know. He is not the victim, his family and kids are. Ask this chick:

Daughter of this coward:

As a anybody knows, this isn't a cause for reason to take life. Something may come out later. But even then I'll stand by my statement.

thanks. i know what it is, but i looked it up anyway. but none of this has been confirmed yet in regards to Seau. and unless you're the coroner performing the autopsy or the neurological exam, then i'll just wait for the results like everybody else.

The brain degeneration is associated with memory loss, confusion, impaired judgment, impulse control problems, aggression, depression, and, eventually, progressive dementia.
You're trying to suggest he had control over his actions, when someone with long-onset CTE factually does not.

This isn't someone who lost their job or got divorced and then decided to commit suicide. This is a growing problem in contact sports. IMO, saying he's just a coward is uncalled for if he, in fact, had CTE.

You are correct, we don't know. But it didn't seem to stop you from drawing a conclusion by calling him a coward, did it?
