NFL: 2019 Season News and Discussion Thread

Henry was a joy to watch...just straight-up power. I thought SF's running was alot more end-arounds and deception. Still, it worked to a T against the Fackers.

Zone blocking, a Shanahan staple. Turning no-name RBs into monsters for decades.
Football is cyclical. Pass-oriented league dictates smaller, faster linemen and linebackers, the latter of which can cover.
The counter would be a big punishing running back and offensive line than can push around the smaller defenders.

I don’t watch NCAA at all but my friend has said that the NFL borrows concepts from college and the inverse happens too.
It sounds right to me. Wasn’t the spread offense popular in college first? Likewise with the read option?

The Packers hold on both offense and defense, who knew?
Shanahan is a genius, everyone knows.
There was a play earlier in the year when the Niners had the ball in the end zone, Shanahan called TD before the ball was snapped.
Spoiler: it was a TD

Eli Manning Retires

I can't say I'm a NYG fan but I will say I always rooted for them when they played the Cheats. I will forever be grateful that Eli was one of the few QBs that could overcome all the cheating and BS the Pats attempted. So, for that, he's a HoFer in my books...for overcoming basically ALLLLL odds and obstacles to win the titles.

Apparently whatever witch Brady is in league with wasn't available to extend his career into his 40s.
j/k
He had as good a career as a player can hope for. And it was time to go - wish him well on his next chapter.

I’m in Vegas and just saw the Raiders stadium. Seems like they don’t have too much left to do. Color scheme is all black with some silver bits.
didnt realize the stadium is across from Mandalay Bay on the other side of the 15 freeway. Thought it was more south.

You know, flying to Vegas, gamble a few days, hit the game on Sunday, back home - that's a decent week. I'm not a Raider fan but I'd do that in a heartbeat for the experience of it.

The stadium looks like it will be awesome. Timeline for completion is impressive, too.
To think good ol' Dan (I have read that he demands people address him as "Mr. Snyder") had both Shanahans, McVay, and LaFleur on the same coaching staff at one point.
Not only is he the worst owner in the NFL, he's also a bonafide douchecanoe:
