If I engaged in a behavior that cost my company money they'd be well within their right to let me go and no one would blink. Why is this any different? When he's at a game, he's on company time. That's not his personal time. He's protesting while he's on the clock. Like I said the consequences were very predictable - he knew how this was going to end and he chose to continue. At any point, he could have said, "I've made my point and for the good of the game I'm going to discontinue that form of protest but will carry on my cause" and no one would have thought the less of him.

But many things in life aren't fair. And all that being said I think Kaep knew where this would end. He's not that naive. Even though the whole thing was unfair and over-blown, he had ways out.

He chose not to bend. I'm not saying that was wrong by any stretch, but it's a decision he made that had predictable consequences. He sacrificed his career for his cause. It's a commendable act. But, that decision rests on him. When you have a job where public opinion influences revenue, how you conduct yourself matters.

If you wore a gay pride shirt to work and your company lost a customer over that, would you still consider them well within their right to fire you?

Turns out my company sells pride shirts, so...
I'm probably tainted becasue my first working experience was in the military and they do tell you what you can and can't do both on and off the job. So it's not an unusual thing for me....
Edit: To Joneill's point, I agree Kaep wasn't fired. It was probably a more passive-aggressive version of being fired, but still he wasn't just dropped. And he had plenty of warning about where his behavior was headed. Again I'll make the point - he had many off-ramps where he could have made his point and still continued to play. He chose not to.

I think it's going to be difficult to find any correlation between Kaepernick protesting and profitability. I remember some people trying to connect the dots with TV ratings being down because of the kneeling.
Way too many factors involved.

Great introspective from Turley, I think many of us remember that helmet toss. He reflects on Myles Garrett, who in 2017 reported having three concussions up to that point.

I swear I’m not a shill, but The Athletic is great for these kinds of behind the scenes and in depth articles.

Ya that's a tough one. There is a small leg extension but not to the point of a penalty.
They got called for it twice today. I can't remember the last time I've seen two tripping penalties called in a game. Could be a situation where they brought it to the refs attention that the lineman like to do it

You can probably pick one at random. That's a good problem to have.
I got mathematically eliminated yesterday. What kills me is if you read this starting lineup at the end of August you'd have thought I'd kill it this season. Turns out not so much...
QB: Winston or Wentz
RB: Barkley
WR: Evans, Woods
Flex: Mixon, D. Montgomery, K. Johnson
TE: Kittle
Turns out it's a skank squad for the most part. Best player on my roster outside Kittle is freaking DJ Chark. At least I can keep him cheap next season.

Same in our league - and those two went really early. I was discussing with a friend how weird this season is for fantasy. SO many top 20 picks performing way below their ADP. Lots of big names that are just plain busts. And then you have these 3rd/4th/5th rounders just killing it. This season is really just about if you have a few players or you don't. If you don't have one of the small handful of players killing it, it's really hard to compete against the ones that do.

That's what's good about FF. It's not just draft a monster squad and sit on them all year. It's an changing organism that needs to be taken care of. Def gotta churn out the bottom quarter of your roster to pick up that stud. I def didn't draft those D's

Yup
Though to Louder’s point, last time I played and won the chip two years ago, I was fortunate and drafted AB, plus Gurley.
But AB was injured down the line. Had to rely on a rookie Juju and garbage time king Bortles, two guys I picked up late in the season

I did get a couple of great pickups during the season - DJ Chark, Devin Singletary, even Ronald Jones II who's been decent for a couple weeks. But I had the #1 overall pick, and it's a tough hill to climb when your #1 (Barkely) and #2 (Mixon) fall WAY short of expectations (note we have a keeper league and a LOT of top 10 RBs were kept, which is why Mixon was best available at 13). So did Woods, and so did Montgomery. We have a 12 team league with 18 roster spots - you basically have to be lucky on the waiver wire and get a handcuff to an injured stud to really make any headway.
It's just all part of the game, but I've been playing since 2007 and I can't recall a year that so many players were so out of whack with their ADP.

FF has been rough for me too... 2nd most points scored but most points scored against has me sitting at 6th. I also took Mixon so I feel your pain. Mark Ingram was a godsend as a later pick though, I almost didn't take him after being stuck with Alex Collins last season
