Regarding the whole Patriots behind the scenes drama, I completely dismissed that last time a report surfaced about "Jim Harbaugh losing the locker room". Just a bunch of hearsay. Didn't see anything surface over the next few weeks, though the team's performance had been declining for a while. Probably just bullshit. Nobody's names and no sources were confirmed either.
Next offseason, Harbaugh is gone. A bunch of key players retire early or leave the team. Few years after that, the front office gets cleaned out. It was a very convoluted situation but these days I'm not so dismissive of these kinds of claims. I still take them with a grain of salt, but where there's smoke, there's fire.

The Raiders though. It definitely took a lot to get him out of the booth, he was reportedly making $7m a year. Gruden reportedly keeps up with the X's and O's thanks to FFCA.
My buddy says they're doing it to tap into their legacy to placate the fanbase, not an uncommon thing for them to do. Marshawn Lynch, return of Charles Woodson, Art Shell, etc. It makes sense.
Shanahan and Lynch were both hired under 6 year deals, but Kyle just won assistant coach of the year and made it to the Super Bowl. Length of the deal was done in good faith, acknowledging it would take time for a rebuild of this magnitude. But 10 years guaranteed salary... Mark Davis got fleeced.

I agree where there's smoke there's fire but Brady is 40yrs old and Bill is mid 60s. They can't be around forever.
If this was hypothetically Josh McDaniels (as HC) and Jimmy G (as QB) which many thought could/would happen and this report dropped about them, then yes I would be panicking to no end.
But Brady and Bill were expected to end in the next couple years. If it's one or two years earlier, I can live with that. There will never be a "what if" We got way more than we could have ever ask for with these two

Having said that I still think most of this report is BS. There are statements that are laughably inaccurate

Watching Colin's show today, I think he makes a very good point.
The fact that this info is even leaked....means someone intentionally let this out to the media. And he said NOTHING leaks out of the Patriots building, which I can definitely see.
Hard to know if its 100% true on all accounts....but with what happened...Garoppolo was given away and with reports of Belichick actively helping to prepare interviews of his OC and DC to other teams....I think the pieces of the puzzle does come together to fit the overall narrative of Kraft/Brady vs Belichick. And Belichick got pissed and pretty much gave away his QBs, and is prepping his OC/DC to leave AND he probably won't be long with the Pats......
Maybe this is the reason why owners shouldn't interfere in personnel decisions?

Slapsticking aside per my post about it, I don't know what to think other than, it's PLAUSIBLE.
Given all that success (via CHEATING ), you have to think that inflated egos are going to come into play at some point. So, if that is the case and it's become toxic after this many years, it is thus not that unreasonable to think there's trouble in Patriots-land.
Though, given how they are, AND if there is indeed this in-fighting, you would think that they should realize that without each other, there is none of this success. No Belichick means no Brady means no Superbowl. That's pretty straight-forward. Part of NE's darn success is that they can CONSISTENTLY push forward the same (CHEATING) program year after year...no changes to coaching ranks and system. Brady may be successful but if you give any QB that, IMO (sorry for venturing into the Brady debate on how great he is again), I think they would be just as good. Part of what made Cutler so laughable in Chicago was that every freaking year, it was either a new coach or OC.
I'd like to see Brady operate in that.

The Jimmy G part is tough. If you strictly look at it from a football sense, then the trade was fine.
Jimmy said he did not want to sign an extension and continue to ride the bench. Also the franchise tag was never an option (as a fan that's what we all wanted, but realistically was impossible)
He was kept around during Preseason and through week 7 as an insurance policy if Brady either got hurt or showed signs of slowing down (which neither happened)
Jimmy G was the answer, but was two years too early

Statement from Brady's Trainer
ALEX GUERRERO: IN MY OWN WORDS BY ALEX GUERRERO | JANUARY 2018
Over the past few years, many people have tried to paint a picture of who I am. But none of these pictures has been complete.
I get that many of my beliefs are not mainstream and I know they may differ from others'. But they reflect my experience from over 22 years of practice working with some of the best athletes in the world. I understand that some people may disagree with me about how to treat injuries or how to train in order to maximize potential. I welcome this and think it is normal and healthy in all careers, because it helps everyone learn, grow, and improve.
Throughout my career I have been blessed to work with many remarkable athletes in a variety of sports. With every one of these clients, my only goal has been to help them bring forth positive changes in their body & mind. I have always tried to be respectful of the staff each player answers to, and I have never tried to create divisiveness or conflict. My ultimate goal has always been to do my very best to help the player get back on the field and help their team. I have never had any motive other than that. My approach is and always has been to give people information based on my beliefs -- then let them follow their own path toward what they believe works best for them. Ultimately every decision is up to each individual athlete.
Many of the athletes I have worked with I consider not only clients, but also close friends. One of those is Tom Brady with whom I have a great friendship that I cherish. It is a privilege working alongside someone with his commitment and discipline. Watching Tom succeed as he grows older has been a personal and professional highlight, because I consider seeing players' and clients' achievements in their own careers to be the most gratifying part of my work.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me in my career, and to the professional organizations that have allowed me to treat their players -- including the New England Patriots. I am grateful to Robert Kraft and his coaches and staff. I am proud to have co-founded the TB12 Sports Therapy Center with Tom, where we're able to make a daily impact in thousands of people's lives.
Finally, my deepest gratitude goes to my family, clients, and friends. It's because of you that I do what I do, and it's the greatness you achieve that continues to motivate me. I wish nothing but the best for everyone and for each of us to be able to live our lives to our utmost potential.

Pretty good fit for the Bears. Dovetails well with their tradition of early playoff exits.

If you guys don't want Fangio we'll gladly take him back.
Nagy should be a good hire. Way better at developing a QB than Fox anyway. I think Andy Reid deserves more of the blame then Nagy for the Chiefs loss.

Chucky is back in Oakland/Vegas.
Jerry Rice on Jon Gruden.
As a Gruden fan I wish him nothing but success but as a Chiefs fan....let's hope he's a miserable failure!!!!
Do people pretty much expect Gruden to take the Raiders to the superbowl real soon now?
“He can be your best friend or your worst enemy. That’s going to keep you on your toes. And maybe that was something that the players, they were lacking this year.
…. I hope these players are ready because they’re going to get Chucky. They’re going to get him … Chucky’s going to come out.”

They got Mack up front/middle, Needs more secondary personnel and the passing game can definitely be upgraded.
Just watched a short piece on NFL QB playbook learning, and WSJ reporter with the former NFL QB said that he worked under Gruden and each week they would have to learn 200+ plays for sunday. And with Gruden saying he wants to push people and really bring out the best in Car....we'll see what Carr is made of.....

IMO, Carr showed he has the right skills two seasons ago. Something was just very off with that whole team this year. I think Gruden will get it back on track.

Yeah. The only people who think Brady DIDN'T fumble are pats fans. Raiders got robbed.
Yeah. WR regression, mediocre running game, and Carr friggin broke his back so that certainly didn't help either.
The big question is sure Carr has the arm and potential future, but anytime, IMO, a player suffers some kind of spinal injury I'm gonna be weary on to see if he can truly get back to 100%.
I mean QB Camp is a made for TV entertainment show that tries to give those who really like football some glimpse of what it's like to be a NFL QB. Watch this clip where Chris Simms talks about his experience learning plays under a Jon Gruden offense: (200+ passing plays to learn from Wed to Sunday....)
