NBA: Spurs Acquire Jefferson from Bucks

From CNNSI...

Two league sources confirm that Milwaukee and San Antonio have agreed to the framework of a deal that would send Richard Jefferson to San Antonio for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto. A source said the two sides are working toward setting up a trade call with the NBA for late Tuesday.

The Bucks are sending Jefferson away less than a year after acquiring the scoring forward in a draft day trade last season for Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons. Jefferson's contract has two years and $29.2 million remaining on it.

Bowen, Thomas and Oberto give the Bucks a veteran group and financial flexibility. None are signed beyond the upcoming season.

another reason king crab isn't going to win a championship anytime soon, especially if duncan comes back healthy than it's all out war with the lakers too.

Good pick up for San Antonio. If Duncan, Ginobli, and Parker can stay healthy this could be a real contender for next season. I bet the Lakers already know this.

^^IMO, they still need a big to go along side Duncan cuz whomever Timmay is not guarding is a mismatch for LO, Gasol, or Bynum. But RJ, Manu, and TP are really formidable in the backcourt.

GREAT move for the spurs. they just won't go away, will they?

RJ finally gives them an athletic swingman and another player that can create for himself. and it's a major addition if manu can't stay healthy.

damnit! i hate it when the spurs get better.

and thomas and bowen will probably end up with the spurs at the end of the summer anyways.

for calling them the bullets.

but i actually think this is a good move for the wizards. it's a weak draft, and after griffin and maybe rubio, it's a crapshoot. they have the players to make a run in the playoffs now, and i think miller (who's still a great shooter) and foye can help them.

i think the wizards have the pieces. they just need to stay healthy to avoid another crap ass season.

yea i dunno if they're gonna survive with bonner at the center in the playoffs.

however, i do believe this puts SA ahead of denver at #2 in the west.

jeebus. the spurs just won't die.

word is that SA originally tried to get vince carter, but the nets wanted more players in return. so the spurs moved their focus to RJ.

Jeff is an upgrade from Bowen, but I don't think it's enough.

I wouldn't really say he can create for himself.... in NJ he had Kidd, but with the bucks he had a horrible year with no decent pg.

^^Ya, I'm more interested in what they do with their MLE. Gortat, Sheed, Varejao, McDyess, and the Birdman are available bigs that can counter the Pau/Lamar or Pau/Bynum pair in LA.

The Spurs are back in the conversation again. Not sure they have the same sort of chemistry that LA has at this point, but they'll certainly have the personnel.

bucks shipped out oberto for amir johnson. I don't see why detroit got rid of amir. He was one of their few bigs left. i hear they're just going to buy out oberto anyways. Hope DET can pick up a center and a PF in FA then.
