Kobe will pass to other teammates...and that stat is probably misleading. Lebron gets to pass to whom? Smush Parker? Lamar Odom?

Lebron gets to pass to Ilguaskas....not much defensively, but a pretty good 2nd option.

Also, I wouldnt want Lebron leading my 4th quarter comeback.....that guy is gonna need to man up or figure out how to play in crunch time.

looks like lebron is more of a team player to me
Lets add a few more pertinent stats:

Field Goal Percentage:
Lebron 48.0%, #36
Kobe 44.8, #65

Free Throw Percentage:
Lebron 72.6%, #106
Kobe 83.9%, #26

Turnovers:
Lebron 3.3topg, #5
Kobe 3.1topg, #12

Steals:
Lebron 1.58spg, #15
Kobe 1.78spg, #8

Looks like Kobe is the more complete player to me

I don't think the differences in these stats support your argument very well.

kome? never heard that before, i can see why....and moo said exactly what i was going to. whenever people talk about assists, no one ever mentions that you need good players to pass to if you are going to get assists. just because lamar odom acts like a fucking caveman who just discovered fire when someone throws him the ball, doesnt mean kobe doesnt pass.

lebron is shoot first pass second kinda guy more than kobe IMO. kobe does what he can to win, lebron does it to look good, and fails.

I was trying to be fair by supplying the important stats. Kobe is not surrounded by as much talent as Lebron (why his assists are lower). Kobe winds up having to bail out his teammates as the 24 second clock runs out much more than Lebron (why his shooting percentage is lower). He takes on the toughest defensive assignment every game (and averages more steals). He handles the ball and is usually double and triple teamed (yet averages fewer turnovers). With the game on the line I would want the ball in Kobe's hands more so than anyone else in the league.

for what it's worth, yes, i know Kobe is an awesome player. there's no denying that. would i want him to take a game winning shot? sure. if i was a GM, would i want him to be the player i build around? no.

i wouldnt take anyone besides kobe to build my franchise around. duncan is probably a close second. lebron has already accomplished the best thing he will do his whole career, which was the all star mvp, that ballhog

I would. He is simply the best all-around player in the game right now.

(I like Garnett, but he doesnt inspire his team. Lebron is doing well, but he is not clutch. Tim Duncan is the most fundamentally sound, imagine if Kobe were that sound fundamentally.)

Back on topic.....I say the US team should just run....forget defense. They cant win if we can score everytime.

i'd take lebron over kobe to start a franchise...taking in consideration their age. heck, i'd probably take wade over kobe too.

sky's the limit for these youngsters.

Who would you guys start?

Big lineup
PG Billups - most experienced, shoots 3s (problem last Olympics) and good D
SG Kobe - experienced, complete, Wade on his heels though
SF Marion - the Matrix gets boards, plays D, does it all
PF Brand - the best PF since Amare was hurt and Duncan isn't playing
C Stoudamire- he better 100% pre injury or Miller since he's the only true center

Small lineup
PG Billups
SG Wade
SF Kobe or Lebron if Kobe doesn't play the 3 that well
PF Marion
C Stoudamire

i said "to start a franchise." this is a forward looking statement. if you had to ask me who i'd take this year or the next two, it would be kobe...no doubt.

I understand that....I wouldnt take wade or lebron.....Id take Chris Paul....he obviously is the next true PG......hes already taken Oklahoma City farther as a rookie than Lebron has in 3 years....

farther where? they haven't made the playoffs yet.

and, in my opinion, you should change you handle to coocoomaster_99 taking chris paul over wade or lebron.

kobe still has a lot of time left. plenty of time to build a franchise around and win championships. i wouldnt take lebron or wade or paul just so i would have more time with them, because i feel i would have a better chance to win with kobe

Good PGs and Centers are the hardest position to fill on a team. I could find a Wade or Lebron easier than finding a Chris Paul.

Oh yeah...any team can make the playoffs in the East.

True. Actually, I think a good big man is even harder to find than a PG...

That's why Shaq was the most dominant player for so long...

That lazy ass could have 10 rings if he actually learned how to play or even shoot 60% from the FT.

imagine if he could hit a shot from more than 3 feet away from the basket

same thing if tony parker learned to shoot a jumper

btw, kinda off topic, i really hate how shaq gets every fucking call from the refs. it is crazy seeing the kinda stuff he gets away with
