Nets are looking like a strong starting 5 but need more depth on the bench.

Otto Porter will look nice next to Beal and Wall maybe we can snag an 8th seed into the playoffs

My problem with what nets have done is that Jason Kidd is a rookie coach and an uptempo guy. They have an older, slower team.

Not with a rookie coach, new core, and older players. I don't understand the move....looks to me like The Russian was throwing his money at big names.

^ I agree. But one thing I've begun to realize is that older superstars (especially KG) can still be great contributors to a team - provided they stay health.

Case in point: Ray Allen for the Heat... that game 6 three pointer... jebus.

Counter point: Steve Nash for the Lakers... dude was a disaster.

To think, we almost had Chris Paul and wouldn't be living this whole Dwightmare scenario...

I think the KG and PP acquisitions for the Nets is a good move on paper... but then again I said the same thing about the Steve Nash acquisition.. oi.

KG at his size I think is still effective. But he has an offensive center next to him so I guess he doesn't have to post up every play and save minutes. Pierce is still effective as well and can still shoot. Can he still create late in games? Maybe Deron will be like Parker and penetrate to create to kick out to a good shooting Joe Johnson/Pierce. Very short window though so they best gel quick. Shouldn't we be calling them the Big 5? Shouldn't Yummy be licking their nuts too?

Dude, NJ is nothing like the LeHeat.

The Nets from now on shall be known as the New Jersey "Old and Busted".

Yup. Can't take the NJ out of the team. Don't care if they relocate to Canada. They would still be the NJ Old and Busteds.

Good stuff...now i'm thinking the coach isn't as important as the medical and training staff for these older players, lol. Phoenix trainers should ask for a raise.

Ya, count me as one of those that's still riled by the CP3 thing. CP3 has that leadership attribute of a feisty point guard. He's a great locker room guy. He got Doc here, and if he and Dwight had signed for the Lakers, he probably would have told him to quit being such a bitch about things.

If he goes to Houston, I'll take the cap space. The NBA forced the Lakers to rebuild, so might as well get on with it.

I'm surprised Yum hasn't crucified the Nets since Kidd had legal/domestic issues with his wife back in the day.

Pay attention!

I did say hiring Kidd was a bad move in the other thread.

To be fair, Nash was forced to play into an element he's not accustomed to.

He should have been given control of the offense from the get-go.

Even with Howard gone, what little cap space does LA have left to begin with? I've read that whether Howard goes or stays, LA is still over the cap.

Bryant alone commands, what, close to half that with his salary? Then Pau, Metta & Nash's.

Nash should retire the Lakers should just buy him out his skills have seriously deteriorated and that happened before we picked him up. It really doesn't matter what system he's running his body just won't do what his mind is thinking.

Next year's cap space. The only person with a contract past this year is Nash. This year is what it is. Metta's gonna probably be amnestied this summer, this is the last year of Pau and Kobe's contract. They aren't doing anything this year unless its trading Pau. Of course, Mitch and Jim have surprised us in the past (getting Pau, Nash, CP3 were all surprises), but cap space for the summer of 2014 is what I was referring to.

Nash was a negative surprise the guy had'nt played like the Nash of old for 1.5-2years prior to getting singed by the Lakers and he has always been a defensive liability I personally was shocked they signed him at all I knew it was trouble.

What's Deng's contract? It probably depends on that more than trying to find a piece this year.

^^I am surprised at how the Bulls haven't decided to blow it up yet. They been trying to do it with Rose at the middle of the whole thing for awhile now.

I don't think the Lakers would take on that kind of contract at this point unless its to get a franchise-changing player in a 3 way trade or something.

Mitch met with Howard last night and then Howard had dinner with Rockets. Harden, Olajuwon, Drexler, Yao via Skype, Mutombo have all reportedly pitched him. Rockets dump Aaron Brooks and Carlos Delfino contracts for more cap space to sign him and trade Thomas Robinson to Portland.
Looks like CP3 stays a Clip. Supposed to agree to an extension today.
Bargnani, sign and trade, to the Knicks http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/stor...rs-sources-say
Josh Smith meeting with Detroit today.
Raptors and Magic talking to Bledsoe.
Korver leaning to Brooklyn Nets.
Minnesota called Kevin Martin this morning. Will Thunder blow this trade?
Didn't know the Pelicans ( at the name) got Jrue Holiday draft night. They're looking at Tyreke Evans.
Igudola to speak with the Nuggets, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks, a source told Yahoo! Sports.
O.J. Mayo met with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night in Los Angeles, a league source said. Mayo is scheduled to also meet with the Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz.
Splitter might get $9MM annually from Portland. Why? Didn't the Heat deem him useless.
As the Memphis Grizzlies plan to make a pitch to free agent Tony Allen on Monday, the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks are part of a growing cast of suitors pushing to sign the All-Defensive guard, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

I'm getting all this from espn.com and http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--20...192107491.html Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc Spears Twitter feeds full of info.

I still don't understand why Andre Igoudala opted out of the last year of his contract that would have paid him 16 million I don't see him getting that much anywhere else.

Houston has put Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin on the trading block - looks like they're confident in landing D12 and are beginning to clear space for another FA like Josh Smith.

Hopefully the Lakers try to claim Delfino or Brooks off waivers we need another guard since Nash is injury prone.

Apparently a Time Warner exec will be in attendance with the Lakers when they meet with D12.

Rumor has it that they're going to offer D12 a TV Show and/or a Movie if he stays in LA.

I'm beginning to think all these rumblings of Dwight leaving is just for leverage; at the end of the day the Lakers can offer the most money, the LA life, a tvshow/movie, and next year they'll only have two contracts on their books if D12 re-signs: D12 and Nash.

If D12 stays, the Lakers will grab a super star in next years Free Agency, and they will be right back in to their winning ways.

Dr. Buss is rolling over in his grave.

No way he would have put up such a desperate billboard.

Yum's got Mike Dunleavy coming to the Bulls. I guess to replace Bellineli, perhaps? Not a bad pickup though, but not a game changer.
