At this point I don't care if the Lakers are making it to the playoffs. Without Kobe it's hard to survive. And I'm not trying to make it sound like Kobe is the God of basketball. Without a leader/captain, the team's psychology is totally different now.

They relied on Kobe to make plays so much that adjusting to that during the playoffs is going to be the end of them.

According to NBA Yahoo, Utah has the tie breaker, so LA must finish 1 game ahead to advance.

This is such BS! All the training and sacrifice just flew out the window with one step that I've done millions of times! The frustration is unbearable. The anger is rage. Why the hell did this happen ?!? Makes no damn sense. Now I'm supposed to come back from this and be the same player Or better at 35?!? How in the world am I supposed to do that??
I have NO CLUE. Do I have the consistent will to overcome this thing? Maybe I should break out the rocking chair and reminisce on the career that
was. Maybe this is how my book
ends. Maybe Father Time has defeated me...Then again maybe not! It's 3:30am, my foot feels like dead weight, my head is spinning from the pain meds and I'm wide awake. Forgive my Venting but what's the purpose of social media if I won't bring it to you Real No Image?? Feels good to vent, let it out. To feel as if THIS is the WORST thing EVER! Because After ALL the venting, a real perspective sets in. There are far greater issues/challenges in the world then a torn achilles. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, find the silver lining and get to work with the same belief, same drive and same conviction as ever.
One day, the beginning of a new career journey will commence. Today is NOT that day.
"If you see me in a fight with a bear, prey for the bear". Ive always loved that quote. Thats "mamba mentality" we don't quit, we don't cower, we don't run. We endure and conquer.
I know it's a long post but I'm Facebook Venting LOL. Maybe now I can actually get some sleep and be excited for surgery tomorrow. First step of a new challenge.
Guess I will be Coach Vino the rest of this season. I have faith in my teammates. They will come thru.
Thank you for all your prayers and support. Much Love Always.

They are, but Utah has easier opponents.

Against Memphis, they're 1-2, so they may lose that one. But against Minnesota, they're 3-0 & they just played them last.

LA, though, is 0-2 against San Antonio & 1-2 against Houston. Without Bryant to at least add in 10-20 points, they may lose both games. Add in that Steve Nash is still injured, so it's up to Blake & Duhon to try and run the offense. Howard has to step up.

and they won

I didnt watch the game so not exactly sure how, but looks like blake had a great game. I assume Spurs starters didn't play as much as they would to rest them.

Now it's Dwight's chance to stand and deliver.

Spurs came to play. They wanted the one seed.

Otherwise, they would be pussing out and admitting they didn't want to play the Lakers in the first round. I never assume the Spurs play that way.

Yeah. I sat in the 400s before. It sucks. But after sitting in the 100's , I can never go back to the 300's or higher.

Ugh. Been busy so haven't been frequenting Azine much, but I was at a bar with friends watching the game when Kobe blew out his achilles.

I immediately knew that he had a ruptured achilles tendon and started to tear up when he hobbled to the bench. I blew out my right achilles tendon when I was 24 playing ball, and the way Kobe limped back to the bench was exactly what I looked like. I knew immediately that he was done for at least 6 months, and thought maybe that this could be the end of his career.

I'm not Kobe, but just for reference: I came back from my injury quick (6-7 months) but I was 24, and had a ton of free time. I ruptured my right Achilles tendon right before finals (early May), so I had all summer to devote to rehab (4-6 hours a day).

Unfortunately, you don't come back 100% from this injury. I went from grabbing the rim easily jumping off of two feet, to barely being able to touch bottom of the iron (the base of where the rim bolts to the backboard) which was a loss of 3-4 inches of vert, and this was my non-dominant foot. The injury made significant change to my game since I'm only 5'11. Even today, my right leg still feels like its slowing me down - it's not nearly as strong as it was before the injury.

But if anyone can do it, I believe its Kobe... but the fact that he's 35 is likely going to make it extremely tough.

I was reading Marcelius Wiley's twitter (ex NFL, current ESPN analyst) and he apparently had a similar achilles injury to Kobe. He said he came back stronger but lost that 6th gear. You're just not as fast. Thoughts BraveDemon?

My buddy just raptured his I think about 2 months ago he said its miserable, he knew exactly what happened to Kobe when he went down as well. At least he is getting team support from his teammates, they've been going to visit him at home.

We will see how the Lakers do tonight, hopefully they can pull off the W. all we need is Utah to lose and it won't matter if we win or lose.

Lakers on a 4 game winning streak hopefully that can extend it to 5.

If the Laker win though, they get 7th and play SAS, who is a better matchup for them.

BTW, I had a friend that ruptured his left Achilles, made it all the way back from rehab, then ruptured his right! Unfortunately, even when things get repaired, other areas will still compensate for the injury and for muscle atrophying over the recovery. At 34, even Kobe is doing everything he can to keep up with people in their 20s. Somethings gotta give.

Not to be mean, but at Kobe's age, he's on the verge of losing that 6th gear anyway. However, since it's still Kobe, he'll find ways to compensate & still make his drives.

^^not to mention he's been in the NBA much longer than most NBA players at his age. Previous generations haven't played as much basketball as he has (drafted at 17, played in multiple Olympics or World Championships).

You're not being mean, BTW, its a fact of life. I'm nowhere near the athleticism I had in my 20s. Kobe's played heavy minutes in one of the most intensive positions in the NBA for 17 years...

I'm interested to see what the Lakers do next year.

Went to our last Mavs game of the season tonight. Dirk announced to the audience that it was a tough, but emotional season for the organization & they appreciate the fans support /typicalPRtalk. But, he got a nice standing ovation from the crowd & that he looks forward to next year. Finished the game with a win so we at least ended on a .500 record.

In other news, T-Mac is out of China & will play for the Spurs in the Playoffs. Can the Spurs break his curse?

They call him Vino for a reason!!

Good win by the Lakers, so glad we don't have to face OKC first round.

Now lakers need to foucus on those first two away games. If they can pull one of those, we can take it!

I watched the game at ESPN zone across the street from the staples center with some friends and I paid $28 for a burger and beer

^^Gotta follow Twitter for the reference. The story is he gets better with age.

The crazy thing about playing the Spurs is that the Lakers have 2 great bigs, but they have 1 legendary big.

Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili's injuries, if they are to be believed, will likely determine the outcome of the series. Trying to integrate Steve Nash back into the line up will also play huge, but Steve Blake is playing great. Typical for a D'antoni offense....the point guard always shines.

If you look REALLY close, you'll see that his eyes were closed.

That was a great game to watch last night...pretty much playing for who gets to face OKC in the first round, lol. After all the crap the Lakers endured this year, this is probably the first time that I've been just happy to make the playoffs.

It'll be interesting to watch Harden against OKC.

He opted out today to go into free agency, so he's 99% gone.

Kind of a shame, but no loss seeing as he's been on such an up & down shooting slump lately. If he had played as he did at the beginning of the season, we would have been in a much better position.

Far as I know, Dirk & 1-2 other players are still on yearly contracts. Just about everyone else is now free to leave. I would prefer at least Carter, Marion, & Wright to remain. Collison did very well last night, but it sounds like Rick & Mark are going to let him go. Dirk said this morning while they would like to go after CP3 & D12, he is open to helping Cuban & Donnie get ahold of any other star player.

Elsewhere, there's quite a lot of news regarding coaches today. D'Antoni will remain, but the Cavs & Pistons have fired theirs, while the 76ers' has resigned.

Edit*
According to 1 report, OJ opted out, but is open to a longer deal. I can see Cuban hoping on keeping him a Plan B if they can't get what they want this summer.

Dude he's out of game shape. MJ, Mourning, and some other players have attempted that but it's not really helpful.
