There were some real positive moments in the first half for the clips. At least they weren't relying on 3's, and had good transition offense.
I don't know what happened to bdiddy in the 2nd half. I hope his hand hurt or something. Reminded me of the same ol' clips I'm used to seeing, where they can put together a great quarter or two, then fall in love w/ jump shots, kaman disappears, and they score like 10 points in the 3rd or 4th. I'm still surprised they lost that badly.

You got that right. Yao looked great and Artest brings the toughness we have been lacking. This is going to be a great season. Go Rockets!

No impressions from opening night? Obviously we'd still suck but at least we made it a game at the end. Chalmers is looking great already.
I watched some of the games last night. Directv has the free NBA package preview until Tuesday. That Sixers game started early to I guess accommodate the WS. I'm surprised people were there.

Billups is WAY better for Denver than AI. Steady, timely shooting, and strong defender. McDyess is a player any team could use.
I have to imagine that teams that might be on the lower half of the playoff picture (be it 80 games away) have to consider what this move means for them.
I love AI, but he never really fit that system. Not sure how he fits with Detroit either, but Dumars is a pretty good GM, so I don't think this is any sort of knee-jerk move.

Ohhh....just to add to my post, Denver is probably going to buy out McDyess' contract.
Since he'll have basically earned his money this year, I wonder if there is anyway that he would work for the veteran minimum for a championship contender. Lakers?

Dumars obviously has the established benefit of the doubt in landing AI but I think Denver got a great one in Billups.

In my opinion Denver made out much better then Detroit did. Don't get me wrong, AI is a great player but he isn't the PG that Billups is. This trade will make Denver much better. I don't think they will buy out McDyss. They would get a strong big man that can shoot well. Something they don't have at the moment.

I think the point of the trade was Chauncey for AI as straightup as possible. McDyess was thrown-in to match salaries.
Denver will get immediate cap space by dumping McDyess' salary and taking on Chauncey's 11.5 to 14m deal til 2012 than AI's 20 million.
....not that I'm arguing for this (I initially thought he would be a good big to keep too) but I can see why. I'm probably wrong anyways.

its the money though, not the skill set or talent. They have Nene, they picked up Renaldo Balkman and Chris Andersen who are both serviceable and cheaper, as opposed to the 6.8 mil McDyess has coming to him this year and next.

I have to admit, I had to read this about 3 times before I got it. My first reaction was, well DUH of course there are two guards. That's a typical lineup. Then I figured out what you meant. And I call myself a point guard

Oh definitely, McDyess is a solid asset to have. Either way, I think Chauncey for AI is a good trade for Denver. Gotta believe that the teams that think they are 4 through 8 seeds in the West are watching this closely.

I think it was a decent trade for both of them. I don't think detroit wanted to pay out billups' contract, and not only do they get one of the best offensive players in the game, if it doesn't work out, they have some cap flexibility to play with and maybe pick up some young talent to go along w/ stuckey and maxiel to build for the future.
Denver gets a real PG. I don't know if they'll keep mcdyess. They've been trying to get under the luxury tax, so I wouldn't be surprised if they buy him out. But I think he'd be an asset to their team. They don't really have a real post presence or a veteran big to help be a lockerroom leader.

I am a little surprised that the Spurs are 0-3 at the moment. Don't get me wrong, I am glad to see it as I am a Suns fan but honestly am surprised.

Absolutely they are! Denver is going to be a threat now. More so if they keep McDyess although I read something this morning that you were right. That Denver was going to buy him out and the Celtics were looking to pick him up. Was just a rumor of course but still.

The Spurs kinda freak me out still. Manu's out, Oberto was out. TD looks slow as heck now, but he's still solid. IMO, I think your Suns are better than them right now, but judging the Spurs of all teams at the beginning of the year is a trap of epic proportions. They got to the WCF's over the very formidable Hornets last year ....with an injured Manu. Yikes.
Surprised no one's discussing the Rockets-Celtics game.

Allen Iverson will not be making his Pistons debut tonight in Toronto against the Raptors.
Iverson, who was traded from the Denver Nuggets for Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb on Monday, passed his physical and is ready to play, however the Pistons are awaiting the results of Billups physical before the NBA can sign off on the deal. Billups is scheduled to undergo a physical Thursday in Denver.
"I'm just ready to go," Iverson told ESPN.com. "Hopefully everything gets taken care of . and I'll be able to get on the court with my team and try to learn these plays as fast as possible."
Even without Iverson it should be an excellent game as the matchup features a battle of the only two 3-0 clubs in the Eastern Conference. Tonight's game represents an opportunity for the Raptors to open a season 4-0 for the first time in franchise history.
Forward Chris Bosh is coming off a week where he was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week having averaged 26 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Jose Calderon has also had an excellent start to the season as he is averaging 18 points and nearly 10 assists per contest.
Both teams can are among the best in the NBA in terms of scoring with the Pistons averaging 106 points per game, good enough for second in the NBA, while the Raptors sit 8th at just over 99 points per game.
Amazingly enough the Raptors currently hold the advantage at the defensive end of the court, holding opponents to 93 points per game while the Pistons are allowing 95.
Detroit has traditionally dominated the matchup with Toronto, going 8-3 over the past three seasons.

Guess we have to wait and see on McDyess. I heard he hates the trade to Denver. I hope he goes to the Lakers , me being a fan (since 1980 ).

I didn't get a chance to see the Celtics/Rockets game. I saw that the C's won, but that was about it.
