So, even with all this garbage about how players right to the pitchers are on the juice, will you still follow the game?

I do love the Cubs...But, I have to say I've lots a tonne of respect for MLB.

I am very curious just how many HRs Bonds et al. can hit this season...

Although, one question, if you are off the juice for say an off-season despite being on it for the last 5 years, will your body's strength and muscles still lose its strength? So, will Bonds still be able to blast the ball 5000+ feet?

I love baseball. Always have, always will. I was at Spring Training in 1995 when it was delayed because of the strike.

Steriods have tainted the sport (I hate cheaters), and the Homerun Era will now be known as the Steriod Era. It's a shame, but baseball will over come this just like it has overcome other issues in the past (spit balls, corked bats, black sox, etc.).

Greenie, just wondering but do you think Yankees are as good on paper as people say they are again this season (i.e. with Johnson and Pavano in the rotation now)...?

Doesn't bother me, steroids have been around sports forever. Even though they test in other sports a ton still do it.

Guys are still great athletes

I think if anything has tainted the sport it's the obnoxious attitude of the players. They are all money hungry drones IMO. What happened to the days when players stuck to a team. Kids these days can't have a favorite team anymore because their favorite players keep leaving. Hell Frank Thomas is probably the only big name player currently that's stuck w/ the same team his whole career.

I never really cared for baseball... but when they start cracking down the NFL for steroids... I'll still be a fan.

Yeah, one-team players are hard to come by these days. Cal Ripken is (was) another that comes to mind...

I think they should legalize steroids and turn the game into one of those old AllSport commercials

Only good thing about baseball is going out to the ballpark and downing a few beers with friends...

And maybe the playoffs...

That's it.

It's not a matter of whether or not the league has the guts to do anything, it's whether or not the players' union wants to let it happen. There is no balance of power between the sides anymore.

I see...
But, what's the point of a league office for? Just to announce player suspensions and make up weird rules (i.e. winner of All-Star game gets home-field advantage)...?

Yes they are... I PM'ed Dallison about that this morning: "I'm not really looking forward to this year... Go Sox ??"

Last year we said that the Yanks pitching was suspect. It wasn't actually that bad tho'. I think they have filled some holes. It's hard to find problems with a 207+ million dollar team. To be fair, the Sox have to pay the luxury tax for last year as they were a little over the 127M cap (vs. the yankees 184M).

Like Theo has said, The sox are built with the idea in mind that the yanks will win 100-105 games a year. We just need to be able to compete with them head to head. The sox have shown that they can, and have beat the yanks head to head.

From 2001 to 2004, in 57 regular season games we're 29/28... [1] Too close for comfort in my honest opinion, but it's good enough for me. No need to count the ALCS series as both went to 7 games, and we know how both turned out

With the additions to the yankee rotation, and the questions in our rotation (Pedro and Lowe will be missed), it's going to be really interesting...

GO SOX !!

The NFL is much different in alot of respects, and I think the concensus is that the NFL does it better. In MLB, any talk of instituting a salary cap or anything along those lines is met with threats of another strike from the players' union.

GO SOX!!! I think the whole Steriod thing sucks ass, but I don't thing that Canseco's bullshit "80% of all players do it" warrants hating the sport. I would say the true figure is about 10%. Bonds is a piece of shit, that I know.

I'm not surprised by it all though....MLB had no real policy until the shit hit the fan. If you were a cokehead and you knew that your town's cops didn't care at all about coke sales/usage, you'd do it.

(I know I would)

I think its a skill, but not really 'athleticism". Like golf.

Although most MLB players are in great shape... its nowhere near NBA, NHL, NFL, soccer, etc.

Another reason why baseball and hockey suck, no salary cap. Baseball IMO will be a regional sport within a few years with the big market teams completely dominating. People in New York and Boston think baseball is the greatest shit ever but people in other parts of the country despise it partly because of the salary cap issue. It must suck too live in a city like Kansas City and no before the season starts your team doesn't have a chance in hell to compete for anything. The NFL and NBA are so much better because of a salary cap and I can't believe MLB can't fucking see it.

Hey I can't make a 20ft putt either. I wouldn't call it athleticism but rather skill. Baseball is a skill sport much like golf.
