I agree. But they need to decide on what to do with Soriano and Meltdown. They owe about $40 Million to those 2.

People also said the same thing about Mo Vaughn. It's a gamble. I think he may have been heading up to Boston for some of that beer and chicken. Maybe he needs to drop some weight.

Yeah Pujols over Fielder is a star thing and I don't believe his age either. But the Marlins don't do no-trade clauses so they'll eat a lot of it in a trade if anything later on. But geez a 44 year old power hitter and no HGH or roids. Not everyone has Julio Franco freak DNA.

Damn...end of an era in Chicago...Buerhle goes to the Marlins.

I'm going to miss the guy in a ChiSox uniform. One of the most under-rated pitchers in the game.

Sabathia isn't playing first base and batting four times a game either.

I think Pujols stays and Fielder goes to the Cubs.
Chicago's new manager and pitching coach are former Brewers so he'll follow. There are rumors that Robin Yount might join the Cubs staff too. And they will dump Soriano even if that means eating most of his salary.

Pirates signed Erik Bedard. 1 year, $4.5M.

Both are demanding positions. Sabathia is a starting pitcher expected to pitch 230 innings a season. He's not a DH.

A season is about 1500 though. While being a pitcher is physically demanding, big guys can play it.

In the field, big guys break down quicker. The Marlins don't have a DH, so I'd be really wary of signing Fielder to a 10 year deal like he wants. Can he lose weight? Sure. Has he to this point?

We can go back and forth on this for a while bro. I agree with what you're saying but I still feel that being a pitcher is not easy. You figure he probably throws about 3500-4000 pitches a season.

To answer your questions....I would not give anyone a 10 year deal. I would give Prince 4-5 years max. Same with Pujols. I think Miami is going to see some big short term upsides from these moves but in 3-4 years they are going to have issues keeping players. They are not a big market and I don't see them ever becoming one.

DALLAS -- The Angels have agreed to a contract with Albert Pujols, the best free agent available this offseason and arguably the greatest player of this era, sources told MLB.com on Thursday.
The deal, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network and Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, is for 10 years, includes a full no-trade clause and could reach $260 million. That would rival the record-setting 10-year, $275 million contract Alex Rodriguez signed with the Yankees in December 2007.
The Angels have not commented on or confirmed the signing. They had surprisingly surfaced in reports on Wednesday linking them to Pujols -- a former Cardinal -- for the second time in 24 hours, with a baseball source confirming to MLB.com that their intentions were indeed serious.

Pujols, a nine-time All-Star and three-time National League Most Valuable Player, weighed a 10-year offer from the Marlins earlier this week and had a counter offer to consider from the Cardinals, with whom he had spent all of his 11 Major League seasons. St. Louis' offer was for nine years and a little less than $200 million, according to a report by ESPN.com.
He turned down an offer from the Cardinals prior to Spring Training, which he had set as a deadline for negotiations, saying he would not discuss a new contract during camp or the regular season.
The first baseman, who will be 32 next month, has a career .328 average with 445 home runs. His career on-base-plus-slugging percentage is 1.037, which leads all active players, and he has led the Major Leagues in slugging and OPS three times and in runs scored five times.

Tim Brown of Yahoo broke the story. It's hilarious that MLB and ESPN aren't giving credit. Fuckbags.

Yep, I figured he was almost a lock. Dodgers are going to have a new, wealthy owner next year who may try and one up the Marlins. Now is the time for the Halos to make their move and snatch a bigger piece of the SoCal fan base. They usually field a competitive team in the AL West and Pujols can prolong his career as a DH.

^^absolutely. OC and LA will always be divided, but its the people in Riverside, San Bernardino, and the outlying counties (other than San Diego) that can be grabbed by adding a star player or 2.

Hopefully the Dodgers get Magic Johnson and his group as the owners. He's put together a great group. Apparently, the Guggenheims are part of it, and they have 125 Billion in assets, so money wouldn't be much of an issue.

Wow, didn't see that coming AND they got Wilson. I think it is a better move that he goes to the AL, for long term anyway. Once he can't grab those grounders, the Angels will have a pretty good DH.

I think the appropriate phrasing would be the Mets took Ramon Ramirez from the Giants for that nightmare Pagan.

I like the Pujols to the Angels since he can DH when he can't infield anymore. So now what happens with Prince?
