I don't agree with with a pitcher winning MVP. Look what happens... now he gets both awards.... 1 already recognizes his pitching accomplishments. Makes no sense.

Ah dammit..oh well, congrats to Braun!

I am so happy that Kemp resigned with a long extension, I thought for sure they were going to trade him or Either in the off season. Kemp will be at it again next season and hopefully he can join the 40/40 club this time (which he was one hr away from joining this year). Til next year!!

Can't a hitter win the Silver Slugger and the MVP? So then why can't a pitcher win the CY and the MVP?

The two awards don't really mean the same thing.

And Kemp actually won the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove this year. So he legitimately had a shot at all three awards.

Supposedly we're going hard after Pujols but I'd prefer another starter.

If he stays healthy the next 4 years (YES....I meant 4), then as a METS fan I would be a bit unhappy.

My feeling is that the METS feel that they can use that $18 Mil to pay 4-6 different players that make the team better. I think Reyes would have taken at least $16 million for the team to keep him.

Hell they have about $65 million tied up in 6 players right now. They also have about $8-9 Million ties up in about 14 of the younger players. That leaves about $25-30 million to use for the rest of the team.

The math just did not work out. Rebuilding is never fun. The best that the METS can hope for is to be the Rays in 3 years. I'll sign on for that. By then they would be rid of Santana and Bay. I hope they would retain Wright, but that is emotion, and not based on performance.

I would agree. They need a starter or 2 and a couple arms in the pen. The one problem I see with the Marlins is being able to retain these guys. If they have a couple losing seasons then are they going to do the same as what they did with guys like Delgado?

I think they have some nice pieces but there are as many holes.

Sure. But I think with the lineup they are putting together may put them as a serious contender in the N.L.. However, I see them as getting the same fair weather love as the Rays. I thought it was horrible that every Rays' home game would barely bring in 15K (?) fans at each home game but when they are winning and end up in the series in '08 their stadium was packed. You could definitely feel a little animosity between the players and the fans. I don't blame the players at all. If the Marlins can seal the deal with Pujols, they will definitely be better and win more games in the process, plus mix in a new stadium, let the fair weather fanaticism commence!

Well, at least the Mets will have a solid bullpen and a better center fielder next season.

Trade Pagan to Giants for Andres Torres and Ramon Hernandez.

Sign Frank Fransisco and Jon Rauch.

^ And now Cards have made their offer public also. 10yr/$220M.

No details on the Marlins offer though, other than that it was 10yrs also.

To play where?

Pujols will fit best in an American League team. If Florida gets him (or the Cards) they are going to hate the last 5 years of that deal. Hell I think the Phillys should get him. Play him at first until Howard is back and then move him to 3rd. What's another $25 million to them these days.

I don't get where all this money is coming from for the Marlins. It can only be in expectation of crowds, since they had to beg for public financing for the stadium.

Hey, we need $500 million in bonds or we're going to move.

Now, it's: LOL, who wants a yacht?

I'm more optimistic about the bullpen this coming season than I was last year. I like Ramirez's numbers. Nice strike out to innings and SO to walk ratios.

Well....The Fish have probably been stock piling revenue sharing moneys for the last 5 years. And they are looking to fill a park. They're thinking about making money the next 4 years....not what happens in 6 years.

Keep in mind that the Marlins pull about 15K or less fans per game and they peak when teams like the METS come to town because of all the transplants. The transplants will still come, but I find it hard to believe that all of a sudden they are going to double their attendance. Maybe it's just me.

The Marlins will get more revenue because of the old crappy stadium deal where they didn't get a lot of revenue that went to Dolphins owner Stephen Ross. They probably figure, new location, new logo, better players equals more revenue.

If the Pujols thing falls through, I hear they'll go hard after Buerhle or CJ. Prince would be nice too.

It screams neuvo riche. They are going to get screwed in a few years with these mega contracts and when attendance predictably falls off.

Yeah, I wonder why Miami isn't pursuing Prince as hard as Pujols? He's a lot younger and a 10 year contract would seem to make more sense.

IDK, Wilson is a SoCal guy, I see him going back to Cali.

A couple reasons came up. I think Fielder is the better option because of his age and upside. But Pujols is the bigger name. I also think they are trying to draw in more of the Latin American fans.

I agree with you on Wilson. Another team that will look to throw him a contract is Washington.

Ah that makes sense with los cubanos. I had presumed the Nats were going hard after Prince but perhaps buyer's remorse with Werth?

Prince is a biscuit short of three spins. I'm not sure he'd hold up playing in South Florida, dome or not.

That's what the Tribune says. But, doubt he'll sign with Chicago. Besides, I think the Cubs need to rebuild...from scratch.

I was listening to MLB Radio a couple days ago. The thing about that Werth contract is that as bad as it may be the free agents are willing to listen to the NATS now because they feel there is a chance of a pricey contract. The fans of course see it differently.

I think they should be going after Prince for 5-6 years and Buehrle.

Some think he's more like 34-36 instead of 31.
