Pitch 1 - right down the middle. No swing.
Pitch 2 - four feet outside. Feeble swing.
Pitch 3 - right down the middle. No swing. Go back to the dugout.
Now, I really do like it when a pitcher hits a HR and helps himself out. But for the most part, it's become boring and tedious. Plus, I'd much rather have the ability to keep a player on the roster that can help out four times a game than only be used sparingly as a PH or backup infielder. I'd love to be able to give guys days off and still have them contribute.

I'm so pissed at Johan. How do you walk the opposing pitcher with the bases loaded? We should have been out of that inning with the lead.
Honestly, he shouldn't get paid for that nights work. For 17 million, I could have thrown the ball in the strike zone. Why the fuck couldn't he?

He gave up a grand slam to King Felix a few years ago at Shea during interleague play. He layed dead for the Yankees last season during interleague play and THAT pissed me off the most.
But nevertheless, Johan is still the man. The 2nd to last game 2 years ago he wanted the ball and threw a complete game shut out.
It happens to the best of them; i have all the confidence that Johan will be there when we need him.

Bobby Cox’s final season as Braves manager is not quite going as expected. The team is struggling and even a cake ordered for his honor on Capitol Hill spelled his name incorrectly.
I mean, REALLY incorrectly.
Cox was being honored for his 50 years in baseball. Senators Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) and Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) hosted a ceremony, inviting the Braves’ manager, as well as players and officials. But the cake, which was to read, “Thanks for 50 great years Bobby Cox” had an unfortunate and profane misspelling of his last name.
Come on. I know the Braves probably should have won another World Series or two during Cox’s reign. But isn’t this a little harsh for a sendoff?
Sheridan Watson, Isakson’s spokesperson, confirmed Tuesday’s gaffe and gave this accounting of the day’s events: “Bobby and the players came to the Hill and spoke at our staff meeting. Immediately after the staff meeting, he and players posed for pictures and signed baseballs for our staff members. The scheduler and I then went to the Capitol to get ready for the reception. The catering company had delivered the cake and we immediately realized his last name was spelled incorrectly. The only people who saw it were me, the scheduler and unfortunately some media members who had arrived early and took pictures. We immediately started cutting the cake.”
And what happened to those pieces of cake that were cut out?
“We smeared the icing so you couldn’t make out what it said,” she said.
And then they were served.
Cox said he didn’t find out about CakeGate until somebody from the Braves told him Wednesday.
“That’s funny,” Cox said. “What bakery did he get that cake? That’s what I want to know.”
A Washington area reporter in the visiting manager’s office had missed the story and asked Cox how they spelled his name.
“The wrong way,” Cox said, drawing a round of laughter.
Cox said he did eat a piece of the cake: “It was good.”
Nonetheless, Watson said the manager will be getting an apology from Restaurant Associates, the catering company used at the Capitol.
How does something like this happen?
According to Watson, Restaurant Associates ordered the cake from a bakery that they don’t normally use and gave the order over the phone. They never specified how to spell Cox, as if that would seem necessary.
“I’m sure one day I’ll be able to laugh about this.”

^I hate to admit it because Im a Mets fan but I give credit where it is due. The Phils are one of the premier teams in the league. They'll win more than 90 games. I'm sure you guys will go out and find a closer because Lidge aint cutting it and to win a WS you NEED a closer.
And for Bobby Cox, one of the most respected managers of the game. I hated him for putting a full squad out on the last game of the season vs the Mets during 1998. The Braves clinched a week earlier and the Mets needed 1 more win to get in...other than that a big tip of my cap to him. Wishing him a very healthy and joyous retirement after this season.

One on the right for me
Was planning on taking my mom to the A's game today. It was raining this morning and she decided she didn't want to risk sitting in the rain all day. Missed a fucking perfect game.

I cant believe they are moving the Toronto-Philly series back to Philadelphia because of the G20 meetings. WTF now Philly has 3 more home games with a DH rule in effect? The Jays will be the home team and bat last but in the band box stadium known as Citizens bank park, adding a DH is like bringing in the fences another 20 feet in!!
They should've moved the games to Montreal, at the big-O; this was clearly all about $ because the gate money collected at Philly will go towards the Jays anyway...

^I disagree. I think Freddy Gonzalez is the idiot. He could've taken Hanley down into the dugout where the TV cameras weren't and told him off there instead of doing it out in the open. Plus, previous to his mishap on the field, he got hit with a foul ball off his leg.
There is a lot of speculation that Marlins ownership doesn't really like Freddy. His days are numbered because Hanley Ramirez is the star of that team and they are set for a new park in a few years...if not, then trade him to the Mets so he can play 2nd base for us w00t!

Team Owner
Hanley def needed to be disciplined but I've never been a fan of telling the media about it. It should've been a private meeting and that was it. I think Hanley is more pissed that everyone knows more than being benched. He's still acting like a douche undermining Fredi for not playing in the majors and throwing his team under the bus. He really needs to apologize to the team.
Regarding the foul ball, if he can't play 100% effort even with the injury, then don't play. These guys play with pain and go 100% effort. Booting a ball and then jogging after it after your own error certainly merits discipline. Especially that he wasn't a first time offender. I personally, would've benched him but not rip him. Then when the media asks just say he aggravated the injury and all the drama is extinguished.
Just the Fish's luck spending money on a guy that just ostracized himself like that. This isn't the first time that Hanley gets bitched at about his effort. Him and Uggla had words last year too.
Fredi will be in trouble if we miss the playoffs again. Although personally I think we overachieved the last few years, management thinks that we should be as good as the Phillies.

I saw the highlight on MLB TV.
To his defense, that last HR was smacked in the smallest parks in the league@ Great American Ballpark. But nonetheless, I dont think the Beer-makers have any other options for closer.
This may be his last season to be honest, at least with the Brewers...
