Manny Ramirez suspended for 50 games for taking drugs.

Espn reports that manny took some performance enhancing drugs. He just screwed the dodgers and fantasy owners badly. I'm on the cell so I don't have a link

Baseball is a joke I don't know why people even bother to watch it anymore? The sport has no credibility and can't be taken serious. All the players cheat and their stats should be erased.

^ I agree to a point about credibility, but not ALL players cheat. Some still actually work very hard to be where they are.

FYI, LA Times is reporting Manny said it was prescribed medication for a personal medical reason.

Which ones? You have a serious problem and credibility issue when the megastars not just the stars are known cheaters. For example Clemmens, A-roid, Manny, Bonds and Big Mac.

There are 32 MLB teams... 40 active players per team. That's 1,280 MLB players. And that's just in the MLB, not counting the minors. Plus, that is current numbers and does not include all of the players who have come and gone over the years. I can guarantee you that not ALL of those players are on steriods.

LOL hey Dodger fans go screw yourself. After all the Barry Bonds and roid hate over the years......what you are going to do about Manny? Are you going to cheer and embrace him after he comes back from the suspension? Of course you will! What's your excuse? Bonds is a jerk and Manny isn't? No, it's because he can hit homeruns and win games for you. Oh please. Hypocrites!! I can see it already.

Whew. You had me going there

But I do agree that it is ridiculous the number of mega-stars who are linked with this. I also agree that a lot of these records should have an asterisk beside them.

If top players like Bonds, Clemens, A-Rod, Manny, etc. are cheating, how do you think the average players keep up? Now, I don't think every single MLB player juices or juiced, but it's more prevalent than we think, and enough to call into question the integrity of the game.

Thats why you root for the Asian Baseall Players like dice k and Ichiro guys that work hard playing this game.

All of baseball's big name players want to do now is try to hit homeruns because their lazy fatass can sprint 90 feet to first base(or w/e it is from home to first) or steal bases.

Remember A-Rod and Barry Bonds use to steal bases all the time but I guess once you start roiding up the face of the game changes.

I hate the Dodgers, but this caught me off guard. Good news for Giants fans, but you'd think the guy would have more of a clue given all that's happened in baseball the last few years. You've got to be careful these days and know what you are putting into your body.

Stealing bases is hard on the body. Just about every base stealer in history has seen their steals decline as they get older, including Bonds, A-Rod, Rickey Henderson, etc, etc. Don't make stupid assumptions.

I can see why Barry Bonds is not stealing bases anymore because he is 40 but A-Rod shouldnt have a problem doing it. Rickey Henderson was still stealing bases in his mid 30's till the end of his career. Even though his number did decline he was still making attempts. I am not making a stupid assumption buddy but then I guess you are a baseball guru so this is probably not gonna go anywhere.

"Manny has requested that the Players Association release the following statement on his behalf."

"Recently I saw a physician for a personal health issue. He gave me a medication, not a steroid, which he thought was okay to give me. Unfortunately, the medication was banned under our drug policy. Under the policy that mistake is now my responsibility. I have been advised not to say anything more for now. I do want to say one other thing; I've taken and passed about 15 drug tests over the past five seasons.
<---Look at location, I dislike Manny more than most. The portion in bold almost makes me want to believe him if the numbers are true. When he was in Beantown we only accused him of in the green monster.

Right... and I agree with that.

My point is simply that not ALL players are juicing and cheating as Black CL-S said originally. I'm not discussing percentages, ratios or probabilities, just saying that he should not use an absolute like that.

Nope, just a long-time fan. You made an assumption based on no information. I was just pointing it out. Henderson was still stealing bases but at a much lower rate than earlier in his career. Base stealing adds a lot of pounding to your body over a very long season.

Just coming out and saying those guys are stealing fewer bases because of steroids is just dumb. You don't know that.

Players should have the option to release the name of the substance in an official MLB document. Otherwise we have to assume it's juice.

Comparing Henderson, Rodriguez or any other base stealing player is valid. A-Rod is a member of the rare 40-40 club and he has 283 career steals. Base stealing has always been part of his game. The point was is that most base stealers have seen their totals decline as they get further along in their careers, not because of drugs but because of the pounding.

If steroids caused people to run less effectively, then sprinters wouldn't take them.

And there are tests now that make the percentage of cheaters more known. Maybe 10 years ago you could say "everyone" was doing them, but now that's just not the case.

Does anyone else wanna just let them go to town on roids and stuff? A sick part of me wants to see an all-roid/PED league, just to see what would happen.
