Kobe

Come on. The man scores 65, 50 and then 60 and no one has posted about it?!? I realize that everyone wants to hate Kobe, but you got to give the man his respect! He showed an unbelievable arsenal of shots and that last shot against Portland in OT was probably one of the sickest shots I have ever seen. Yes, this is coming from a die hard Michael Jordan fan so we can leave the MJ-Kobe comparison at the door.

Great players are measured by championships. Kobe wouldn't have had a sniff without Shaq and will never win another one so....

OT: Going to the Raptor game tonight against the Nuggets. Looking forward to seeing Melo and AI.

It goes hand in hand, because Shaq wouldn't have won the 3 in LA without Kobe. Shaq has been spoiled by playing with some of the best 2 guards throughout his career. Penny (when he was legit), Kobe and now D-Wade. What has he done by himself, nothing. Remember who had the ball when the game was on the line during those championship runs.

I am not saying Shaq isn't dominant, I'm saying that Kobe deserves credit for those chips as well. No one in this league wins chips by them self.

Honestly, your right. I think that hatred of Kobe you talked about may have come over me.

But I still don't put him up there with the games greats.

BTW - Did they win those 3 games?

It happens...

Who knows....he has a lot of NBA left in him.

Yes...and they needed every one of his points in two of the games because they were trailing the majority of the game. Really, watch some highlights on www.nba.com It is sick!

In the highlight section, they have a vid called Kobe Bryant's Top 10 Plays of the Season. #7 is the shot i'm talking about. It was in OT and gave LA the lead to basically seal the victory. Kobe's was a three pointer, but it kinda reminds me of when Jordan was trapped by Oakley and Starks, then escapes and dunks on Ewing.

There you go. I understand why people dislike him as person, but you got to give credit where credit is due. for acknowledging the greatness of that performance.

Agent 0's game is ridiculous...I just hope he stops predicting 40 point games against Portland.

Bosh has some mad skills, I just wonder if Toronto will let him go like they have every other talent they've had in the past. They need to build around that kid, he is their future.

Not sure if you watched the Bulls game last night against Denver, but man. What a nail biter. The Bulls were trailing by many points and came back to win the game in less than .02 of a second.

I believe Melo and AI were combined to have more than 50% of the field goal. Man, what a good game.

the Raptors have Bosh locked up til 2010-2011 with a player option for 2012
so he should be here for a while

i still dont really like kobe much, mostly cuz of the games with the kings and some dirty stuff I saw him do. But I'm starting to change my feelings a little about him. He seemed to be more of a team player and trying to be a leader. Right now he is on an amazing run trying to make sure the lakers make it to the playoffs. I give him his props.

kobe is already one of the greatest players to ever walk through the league and is a sure shot hall of fame player. it doesn't matter whether u like him as a person or not and most ppl don't. he's kinda like bonds where he inadvertantly alienates fans and the press.

jordan comparison's are unfair to anyone but imo, kobe is the closest there ever was to jordan. i mean, grant hill and all the other "next jordans" weren't even close. there will never be another jordan just like there will never be another bird, magic, shaq etc. etc. i mean, the closest we have come to the next magic is lebron and, although they are similar cus they are both big and can handle, the rest their games aren't all that close. well, i guess lebron could be close if his jump shot gets better but with my point is kinda with different players in different eras u can't really compare and it's not gonna be the same regardless.

jordan was the greatest player i've ever seen and let me say that i am his #50 billion fan. i can't stand that m!@#$f'er cus he is so idolized and he is every bit a degenerate off the court like any other normal red blooded male. i'm pretty skeptical that kobe can get another championship but jordan's 6 championship teams were way better than any kobe's played with thus far in the post shaq era.

As I said in my initial post, this is not a Kobe-MJ comparison. It is not fair to Kobe or Jordan to compare the two. Typically, ignorant haters compare Kobe to MJ because that is their only method to bring him down. You have to put all your feelings aside and judge him as a basketball player, but some people are just too unaware to recognize the greatness of Kobe's game. MJ is the greatest to ever dribble the rock, so THERE WILL NEVER be another Jordan. Kobe is making a name for himself though, which is why at 28, he is virtual lock for the NBA Hall of Fame.

Kobe, a scrub? Maybe as a person off the court. Sure, his off the court persona is far from great, but he works harder than anybody in the league and his performances on the court are far from “scrub status.” I would love to hear you explain how he is a scrub...please enlighten me.

I have nothing against Kobe, sure he's made some mistakes, but that has nothing to do with him being clearly one of the best in the league today. IMO, noone will ever compare to Jordan, but that's beside the point. Kobe is a phenominal player, and if a comparison must be done, I agree with the assertion that he is probably the "closest" to MJ at this point.

I know quite a few people who don't like him, but I have always liked Kobe when he first came in the league, and that's eventhough I HATED the Lakers. I still am not really a Laker fan, but I have to admire and respect Kobe's abilities, the guy is unreal.

...and who's fault is it that he's currently playing on some crappy teams? If old #8, er 24 hadn't demanded that Shaq and Phil both go as part of the deal for him resigning with the Lakers then he may have won another ring or two.

no... they usually, discreetly, walk in a little late... or get there really early... people pretty much leave them alone during mass (service), sometimes they leave a little early... but during that whole accused/rape/court thing... he'd stick around and shake hands and stuff... (it was totally for PR ) I'm quite certain they have a driver/bodyguard, but I think he stays in the car... when he does come in, I don't go all crazy or even stare...

I know people won't believe me, but one time, I was walking into church when Vennessa came out to proceed to the restroom... and she gave me a double take... but it wasn't like she was checking me out... or anything... but she gave me a look as if she thought she knew me or maybe I look like someone that she once knew... when she realized I wasn't who she thought.... she just proceeded

I think, one of the reasons why they (occasionally) attend MY church vs. a church in Newport Beach, where they live is because it's low key...
