Poor lids, for his sake, I hope they didn't have to remove the nut.

While teammates played Game 4 against Chicago, Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom was undergoing surgery after getting speared in the testicles by Patrick Sharp in Game 3.

"I thought it was OK that Saturday when I practiced," Lidstrom said, "but Sunday, Sunday I was just in too much pain. I had surgery during that game."
Lidstrom said he would need more tests, but more surgery probably would not be needed. He said it was the most painful injury he has had.
Pavel Datsyuk was less willing to discuss the injury that sidelined him for seven games from Game 3 against Chicago to Game 5 against Pittsburgh. There may have been more than one injury, but he did suffer a foot injury after blocking a shot in the same spot twice.
In Datsyuk's view, it no longer matters.
"Too late about injuries," he said, "now, especially. My body doesn't feel anything now. My body just feels empty now."

After watching Pittsburgh hoist the Cup on Detroit’s ice, the Red Wings lined up to shake hands with the Penguins as is custom in the NHL playoffs.
Detroit captain Nicklas Lidstrom(notes) was up front, followed by alternate captain Kris Draper(notes), congratulating many of the new champions while waiting for Pittsburgh’s captain.
“Nick was waiting and waiting, and Crosby didn’t come over to shake his hand,” Draper told an Associated Press reporter a couple hours later as he was leaving Joe Louis Arena. “That’s ridiculous, especially as their captain, and make sure you write that I said that!”

Crosby eventually skated over to shake hands with the Red Wings, but many had already headed for the dressing room. Detroit forward Johan Franzen(notes) and Crosby exchanged words and Crosby then shook hands with goaltender Chris Osgood(notes) and some other Detroit players.
The Penguins were unhappy with the accusation, especially since Crosby was photographed going through the line.
“Nobody respects the traditions of hockey more than Sidney Crosby,” team vice president Tom McMillan said. “It was a young team celebrating its first Cup and some of the guys might have been a little late getting into the handshake line.”
The losing team almost always leaves the ice quickly following an elimination loss, especially during the finals, and it was uncertain how long Lidstrom waited.
Pittsburgh didn’t need Crosby to finish off the Red Wings, beating them 2-1 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals without the superstar healthy enough to play for the whole game.
Detroit was bitter about blowing 2-0 and 3-2 leads in the series, but the previous champions gave the Penguins their due.
“You’ve got to give them credit,” Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said.
Goaltender Chris Osgood agreed.
“We’re not stunned,” he said. “They had a good team.”

I missed it. I never saw a hockey game in my entire life, but really wanted to see this game 7 for some reason. I never gave hockey a chance, but next season I will try to start watching it, seems like a lot of people enjoy it.
Just like I didn't really watch soccer until a coworker got me watching the 06 World Cup, now I'm hooked.

Way to make something out of nothing Detroit, give me a break, the guy lined up and shook hands, it's his fault they didn't stay on the ice to shake his hand? Weak
Interesting. Interesting.
Even if had a problem with it, Draper should have kept his mouth shut. In light of the LeBron hand shake debacle, he knew this would make headlines. He should have just let them enjoy their championship just like everyone else let him enjoy his four without the sour grapes. It's their time now, let them enjoy it. What a douche.

So, wow...figures Detroit would love nothing better than to take away the glory of winning the Cup away from the Pens and start up Handshakegate.
Stay classy, Wings...

Well a series that goes to Game 7 is a good series. Hated the they won, but it is the team that kept the Caps out of the Finals. Pittsburgh is lucky that the second and third lines played well, Malkin and Sid did not. I still think Fluery should have gotten the MVP.
The Caps missed the Finals by one game, The Hershey Bears won the Calder Cup, The South Carolina Stingrays won the Kelly Cup. Pretty good for the Washington Capitals Organization.

Nice hot pants Yummy
Not gonna lie, pretty painful way to end a season, but what a glorious run it was. Congrats Pens and see you in the finals next year!

Interesting. Interesting.
Season's over. Nothing gong on. All the teams are once again on a level playing field. No one, including me, cares about the 2008-2009 season anymore. No new news. Nothing.

Bring on the Draft!!!!!!
chips and smokes, lets go
^Finally something for fans of non-playoff teams to look forward to. And let's not forget the July 1 free agent deadline. Let the speculation begin.
Interesting. Interesting.
Since the Pens had their parade today (congrats again Pens fans), tomorrow is officially "what have you done lately" day. And "lately" is defined as anything past midnight tonight.

Lots of rumors about JMFJ....to Tampa for Vinny....etc and so on.
Point is that JMFJ and Frolov are "on the block".....JMFJ is great, but our D is looking pretty good...Doughty has exceeded expectations, and Hickey should crack the line-up this year.
