Here's a Sundin quote Leaf fans will remember from the spring.

I have never believed in the concept of a rental player. It is my belief that winning the Stanley Cup is the greatest thing you can achieve in hockey but for me, in order to appreciate it you have to have been part of the entire journey and that means October through June. I hope everyone will understand and respect my decision.
Hypocrite?

Hypocrite?
I hate to wish anything negative on the Canucks because they don't deserve it, but I hope he tears his groin on his first shift.

I would have never expected Vancouver. I guess he is all about the $$$ because no offense Canuck fans, they don't stand a chance of coming out of the West, especially with Luongo's groin on the fritz. Those injuries last the season.

Lost a lot of respect for Mats through this entire process.

And I hope someone reminds him of that statement Herbalist posted.

I agree on all points.

When I heard Vancouver, I thought to myself "Vancouver, really?" If its all about winning like he says, I don't get it.

^Kind of a late response. Its already Friday.

But I'm not one to retract a bet so, sure its on. I haven't thought of what to name you if I win. I'll try to make it as embarrassing as possible.

Great B's-Leafs game last night. Love to see the Leafs lose but I also love to see them fight back and make a game of it. Bodes well for the future.

It's friggin atlanta, LOL.

I'm disappointed in Pavelec, though. He's supposed to be the next good goalie and he looks horrible this season.

Too funny about you wishing anything negative on the Canucks. As a long time Canuck fan we've endured nothing but bad luck, disappointment, and mediocrite. Although you mention the $$$, there is actually rumours circulating that he took less money to leave the Canucks with 3 million or so wiggle room. Canucks by all means are not yet lumped in with San Jose or Detroit, but now we have two legitimate scoring lines and a very solid defensive core. Whenever Luongo comes back, there are many reasons for Canuck fans to be cautiously optimistic.

Sidney Crosby is following right behind you. Why is this player hated by a lot of fan

Malkin talking about Crosby..

Sidney Crosby is following right behind you. Why is this player hated by a lot of fans?

"Maybe because of his behavior? But I think that Crosby is the best player. And those who are in the spotlight are always not liked."

I could replace Canuck fan with Leaf fan and the sentence still holds true. Probably more true actually.

Ya, I'm also hearing the deal is 5 mill pro-rated, not the 10 he was initially offered. If that's the case, good for him. Apparently you guys are still 7 mill under the cap so that leaves plenty of room for a trade or FA signing or two.

But I still hope he pulls his groin, sorry. He set the team he apparently loved back a few years because he couldn't make up his mind.

Bigger picture = Young players and draft picks that would have played for the Leafs into the foreseeable future.

Two trips to the semi finals does not make a bigger picture.

:ibbutSundinneverhadanyonetoplaywith:

Great players make their teammates better, Sundin never did that.

Fuck him.

"rivalry"

Look, Crosby is great; he's the type of player that comes along only once every 8-10 years or so (ehhhh...ok maybe every 5-6 years). He can definitely do a lot of cute things on the ice (when he's not diving).

But Ovechkin is a one-time-only player. Ovechkin's artistry does more to advance mankind than all other activities performed by living organisms combined. In fact calling what Ovechkin does "playing hockey" is insulting. Crosby "plays hockey". Malkin "plays hockey". Paul Kariya (the Sidney Crosby of the mid-90s) "plays hockey". Every time Ovechkin takes the ice, we're watching a transcendent being slip from the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God.

They are all different players.

Crosby - best set up man. Makes people around him better. Dances around people like Gretzky did.

Malkin - best all around player, goes through people. Hybrid passing/shooting/defense.

Ovechkin - best one-on-one player, tries to do everything himself. Best shooter.

Look what malkin did when Crosby was hurt last year. Took over the league and almost won the scoring title.

I was talking about the rivalry between Ovy and Malkin. Not Ovy and Crosby.
