If you can't make it, be sure to pre-rank your players before the draft.

Okay...in regards to the Utility player and bench players...what are they? For instance, if say Kovalchuk is available when I'm due to pick a utility player, do I take him? For instance, what are utility players ranked by? Penalty minutes? +/-...?
Because, if that's the case, taking Kovalchuk is stupid since he doesn't know what defense is and he'll likely not take too many penalties...

I was thinking about it, and pre-ranking players isnt going to work. It doesnt consider the fact that you can only use a certain number of players in each position. For example, I may rank 4 centermen in my top 4, but if I received the first 2 I may actually want to look for a winger, or defenceman next, even though they are ranked lower. Throw goalies into the mix and it gets even more difficult.

So basically, if a superstar is available for utility/bench, jump him...As well, draft 2 starting-caliber goalies and etc.

You fill your utility slot with any player you draft except a goalie. During the season, you can change the player in your utility slot any time, as long as you don't try to put a goalie there.
So, you can draft Peter Forsberg and put him in as your utility player one night, and then as your center another night. Or you can draft Rob Blake and put him in as your utility player one night and as a regular defensemen on another night.

Then show up for the draft.

If everyone wants, we can trash the idea of a live draft and just have a positional draft based on rankings. Yahoo will draft our teams for us, taking into account our ranking, and making sure we have enough players for each position. This is boring, but puts those ewho can't make a live draft a more level-playing-field.

Let's say on Tuesday(random) you have 4 centers playing but only have 3 Center roster spots open so you take the 4th Center and make him your utility.

Prolly not first overall. He should go in the first round though. It will be interesting to see who his center is. It may be Semin.

Penguins' Malkin to miss 4-6 weeks
25/09/2006 4:06:18 PM
Highly touted Pittsburgh Penguins rookie Evgeni Malkin will not require surgery to repair his dislocated left shoulder, the NHL club learned Monday.
Pittsburgh Penguins rookie Evgeni Malkin won't need surgery on his injured shoulder, but will miss the first four to six weeks of the NHL season.
The 20-year-old Russian, who suffered the injury in his first exhibition game last Wednesday, will still miss four to six weeks of action.
Malkin was injured early in the second period of Pittsburgh's 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Flyers after colliding with teammate John LeClair in a pre-season game in Moncton, N.B., on Sept. 20.
Good news I guess

He doesn't need to use that shoulder. Just bodycheck with the other side.

Note from Dom:

Hey, if there are others who want my spot then I'm out.
Thanks for the heads up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I guess we can give him to 5 to change his mind, but otherwise his spot should go to someone else.
