Hockey: News and Discussion Thread
I wouldn't be planning the parade yet. Hockey gods have a funny way of gifting puck luck at certain times. And it only makes sense that its cabby's turn to bring the cup home and complete the circle. All the regs here since this thread was created have had a turn.
Well, except one.

Not quite. The Kings under-achieved during the regular season...when they made the playoffs that year, they were the team NO ONE wanted to play because that line-up is built for the grinding, hard-nosed playoff atmosphere.
Pretty much the same team returns abeit a bit faster and more skilled now with the likes of Gaborik and Toffoli.
Rangers have a nice blueline. But, they don't have a Drew Doughty. And goaltending...let's just say both goalies can steal a game. So, tie there. So, it comes down to the forwards. And your team looks to be 1-line short against the Kings.
Look, anything can happen in the playoffs, but from a match-up standpoint, and with LA having home-ice (not that home ice mattered for the Kings), your Rangers have it tough because AV does not get the last change and has a team that's not as deep.
Not hatin'. Just telling it as it is.

You had Montreal winning in 5 no? Rangers too slow I think you said.
Rangers were better on the road (20-17-4 25-14-2) regular season & playoffs so sorry, not bothered by that.
Bottom line no one expected the Rangers to make it past round 2, time will tell & you can say what you like, the #1 & #2 teams in the NHL this year are meeting for the cup. All that is left is to decide which is #1.

How epic was that game 7 Kings V Hawks?

There is a reason why many referred to this series as the Stanley Cup Final.
The Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks finished a series for the ages in fitting fashion Sunday night. A fluke goal in an overtime ended the series on a heartbreaking note. The seventh game between the second and third largest markets was a big hit.
Game 7 drew a 3.17 overnight rating for NBCSN, the highest ever for an NHL game on the network. While NBCSN has only been around since 2012, that also counts the histories of VERSUS and OLN. That means the game drew higher ratings than every Stanley Cup Final game on cable going back to at least 2006.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this comes from the local markets. Both Chicago (22.7!) and Los Angeles (4.8) drew record ratings on NBCSN. Now, don’t forget, Los Angeles has played two Stanley Cup Final games on NBCSN, while Chicago has played four, so Game 7 out-rated all of them in those markets.
Other top 10 markets for NBCSN: Buffalo (which, due to its size, finished ahead of LA), Minneapolis, Boston, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, New York and Providence. New York, who’s Rangers await the Kings in the Stanley Cup Final, drew a 3.7 rating. That’s a record for any game not featuring the Rangers, Devils or Islanders.
Game 7′s numbers give hope that viewers might stick around for the Stanley Cup Final. This is a small-scale key moment for the NHL. Setting a huge record, and owning the night on cable is another big step for them on television.

1) No one "took out" Price.
2) Price was far worse and anyone that knows anything about the game or the series knows that.
I can't wait for the Rangers to knock that smug off your face.

You can refer to a roach race in Rangoon as the Indy 500, it don't make it so.

Bottom line is Montreal played good but Henry was on his game throughout the series. I mean the last game montreal lost by a single goal. You cant ask anything more from your goaltender than that.
BTW Rangers in 6

BS because the first game Price got his ass whopped in game one and Torqarski played very well in the following games. in fact it took him 3 games to give up the same amount of goals price gave up in one.

WTF...! No way. I was hoping for some tear-jerking story about how he jumped the fence and snuck through from Mexico to here and learned how to skate on wooden skates while living in on the plantation back in -land.
