$230 million and you don't even know who's going to be the starting pitcher after Moose and teh Unit...

You guys need 2 starting pitchers. With the wildcard races the way they are, no one is going to dump decent pitchers right not.. Not that the Yanks have anyone left in their farm system to trade anyways ('cept Cano and Cabrera which they are unlikely to trade)...

The Sox on the other hand need a closer. If Schilling doesn't work out (his"rehab" appearence the other day didn't go well), then we still have a couple of weeks till the trading deadline, or we'll have to call up some one from the farm (Craig Hanson??).

The Sox's problems are alot easier to fix...

Moose and Unit are the only ones pitching well, except for Wang, but I can't see him keeping it up in the second half. If we can get Pavano back and pitching well, we should be OK for the playoffs.

OK, 2 out of 3. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Pavano tomorrow. We need him if the Yankees are going to have any shot for the playoffs.

Ooops, never mind about Pavano tomorrow. The Yankees new acquisition, Al Leiter, takes the hill.

your right. im not even gonna argue. the starting rotation is the worst i have ever seen. the whole line-up has been iffy since day 1. wang is probly out for the rest of the season and we just picked up fuckin al leiter. the worst pitcher florida had. GREAT PICKUP FELLAS!!!

this is a dead season for the yanks, the quicker we admit it the better. no matter how much power you have at the plate it doesnt matter if the starter cant hold onto a 6-0 lead (in this case, we pulled it out but for awhile there it wasnt looking so good).

even though bernie is a yankee staple the man is getting old and slow. if not for a few running errors, the sox would have won this game cus of bernies weak arm. at the same time you cant trade him or let him go cus like i said he is a yankee staple.

only way we can get some good starters is by giving up quality hitters which i doubt is gonna happen. therefore, chalk up the season and hopefully cashman can make some moves for next season.

We were interested in Leiter too... The Yanks got him, and more importantly, kept him from putting on a Sox uniform...

4 innings, 7Ks. Not bad. And it doesn't get any harder than the Sox at Fenway.

Whew. That was close. At least Cano didn't screw up the game-ending play.

This die-hard Yankees fan thought this would be the beginning of the end. I thought one win for the Yanks, with all their problems with starting pitching.

That game last night gave me flashbacks of last October..1 more starting pitcher and Yankees can be set to make a big run.

Leiter is FAR from proven - in fact he has a long way to go before his first half is overlooked. Mussina is as shaky as he has ever been. Same with Johnson.

I was at the game last night and it was pretty good towards the end there. The teams usually bring out the best in each other, competition-wise, and with the exception of the 17-1 blow out that was true. The Yankees have a very tough second half with more than enough road games against tough teams. The Sox are going to be spending the majority of their second half in Fenway. How the Os hold up is going to play a big part, but I wouldn't be surprised to see one of us sitting home in October...

True good point but Leiter is a way better alternative than what they have which is nothing. Leiter was nervous but a bad Leiter is better than what we have. Plus we have the factor no one has seen Leiter in years so it takes a batter a good 10 at bats before he is use to a pitcher. If Mussina, Johnson, Leiter, Wang stay healthy and keep the games close the Yankees have a good chance. I also agree I wouldn't be surprised to see either one sitting home in October, but it would be real bad for baseball if that happened. Someone shoot me I am agreeing with a Masshole

Wang is already pretty unhealthy by all accounts. It'll be interesting to see if pinstripes alone can turn Leiter's season around.

And if it helps, I don't think having one of us sit home in October would definitely be bad for baseball - just ask the fans in Baltimore...

I wouldn't count on Wang right on (unbelieveable that with a $230 million team, the Yankees are relying on a rookie who makes a few hundred thousand). The key is Pavano, who is due to return July 26.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Wang out for the rest of the regular season. ( @ Wang)

Pavano isn't in the best shape and hasn't been pitching like he has in the past. It will be interesting to see how he rebounds.

No hating (well, no more than usual). Last season went a long way toward mellowing out Red Sox Nation.

You gotta remember there are some noobs here now... We used to have some "very interesting discussions" here in the past (when a few banned members used to be around).

The Massholes here as a whole have definitely mellowed out a bit...

Winning a World Series after coming back on the Yankees when you're down 0-3 will do that.

Damn you, Red Sox.
