3 years was too long of a contract given Milton's health issues, but Dunn was overpaid relative to talent IMO

I don't know, 10 million a year for very consistent and excellent power production seems decent to me. I'm guessing he is gonna play 1st since the Nats have a ton of outfielders already so defense won't really be a big issue.

Yeah, well we all know Hendry and all Cubs fans are retarded, so no one was really surprised at that bone head move

I wonder where Nick Johnson will go? Dunn is terrible on defense at first...they tried that here already

The rip on him when he was here is that he strikes out too much. Usually strikes out looking. His walks a lot and his on base is usually high, but he doesn't drive in as many runs as someone who has that much power should.

I don't think it was bad to sign him though, just that they overpaid. I bet he would've took a discount just to be able to play with Kearns. However the change of scenery and being back with his friend will be good for him.

Oh yeah, and I hate Jim Bowden

$10 mil/year is a lot for a one-dimensional player...what you gain in power you lose 2-fold in lack of defense and hitting for average

He has more than one dimension. His OBP is always high because he walks a lot. Pitchers don't want to throw him strikes. And like I said, defense won't be a major issue at first base.

he's still overpaid for someone who hits .240 and strikes out 170 times a year, especially when Bobby Abreu signed for $5 million/year in LA

So the A's aren't moving to Fremont. That is cool. Didn't feel like starting a new thread and saw MLB in the title of this one.

What...that an ex-ChiSox is playing for your Twips...?

Be happy; Crede is a fine player...and a classy one too. And he won't be taking roids like this fraud over with the Yankees.

I used to enjoy when Crede was up because he struck out so often. He'll have to shorten his swing. The guy could play great defense on grass though. But he'll have to learn the Metrodome turf.

Ironically, if his back acts up he WILL be taking steroids: cortizone shots. They just won't be anabolic and won't be from his cousin in the Dominican.

Vlad Guerrero accidentally reveals true age in interview

Turns out he's 34, not 33 as listed. Guerrero, who will make $15 million this season, is in the final year of a contract, and any new extension he signs probably will be for one less year than he would have signed for, which would cost him millions.

Guerrero is one of hundreds of players from the Dominican Republic (including Miguel Tejada, Rafael Furcal and "Esmailyn Gonzalez") who faked their age when signing contracts with major league teams.

Don't forget about Danny Almonte!

Exactly, lying about your age is nothing, it's commonplace, an everyday occurrence...just shows that ballplayers there will go to any length to escape poverty and make it to the majors, whether that may include lying, cheating or taking illegal supplements/steroids/hormones.

Just look at all the Dominican players that have connections to Angel Presinal even though he is banned from every MLB clubhouse for his extensive steriod ties...Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz, Pedro Martinez, Robinson Cano, Vladimir Guerrero, Bartolo Colon, Juan Gonzalez, Adrian Beltre, Miguel Tejada, Ruben Sierra, Moises Alou, Jose Reyes. Robinson Cano made the statement, “Every Dominican knows him.”
