A general question for some of the Tampa/ St Pete guys. im thinking of moving to the area. Most likley will be in the Pinellas County area, St Pete/Clearwater etc. Was curious as to the car scene there and the best/worst places to live.

any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

 

Stay away from pinellas park. there are some regular meets down there and there are plenty of "car guys" in florida anyway so you should be set!

andURpoint, I live in north st. pete (gandy area) I really like this area because it is close to everything. Tampa is right over the bridge. As long as you live north of downtown st. pete you will really like it. Don't move to clearwater, largo, or kenneth city make sure you have a st pete address north of downtown and you will be happy. The best zip codes are 33716, 33702, 33703, 33704.

Car scene is pretty cool. I go to Cars & Coffee every month hosted by DuPont Registry. Every other Friday there is a car show at USF. Every year Honda Grand Prix is downtown St. Pete and there are a couple other cars shows down there as well.

 

I'm planning on heading over to the next USF Car Meet on August 24th and I'm hoping some more TLs show up since the last time I went I only saw one

It's $5 to get in and you can show off your car however you like. Since this is a charity event, the money raised goes to local organizations (they give you a receipt when you enter).

Its the third Saturday every month from 7-9am

There is always a huge turnout, tons of exotics!

 

Has the USF Car Show increased in quality since I was there? I didn't feel comfortable leaving my doors unlocked or even letting the car out of my sight for more than a couple of minutes. Lots of less than reputable characters running around there.

 

I went last month and it was a good event. They had a ton of police around and everybody seemed fine. I'd usually say otherwise since you all are aware of the area USF is surrounded by, but just lock your doors and you shouldn't have a problem. Ever since they changed the event to a charity, it's gained a lot more exposure in a good way.

UPDATE

I got in contact with the man running the event and he would be more then happy to set aside a few spaces for AZ members, but he can't guarantee he can save them if we show up past 8PM. I'm going to save us 10 spots and if we don't fill them all it won't be a problem, we can just give them to other cars.

 

What time do you guys plan on getting there? I'll know tonight if I can make it for sure but I don't get off work till 5 and I'm all the way out in Bartow :/.

 

I'll probably head over there around 6:30 (weather permitting) but I just have to get there before 8 to claim our spots.

I know it's pretty last minute, but USF is hosting another car meet tomorrow (9/7/12) 7-11PM. Same venue as last time (USF Alzheimers Inst.), but unfortunately other plans came up for me so I won't be able to ride out

Nope. It still looks the same. I have started modding the car though. Mostly suspension mods but I did intake/exhaust and tune as well.

 

any recent meetings in tampa this month...
