shop rental NC
Anyone know of any shop rental places where I can bring my car and do my own work there and pay for time used by the hour. My driveway simply will not work because of how inclined it is and I don't have a garage. And plus having a lift kit would make a lot of things easier. Preferably somewhere in the Raleigh area.

Hey Henrokk let me know what you find out about that place. I need to do a AT 3x3 and a lift would make my life way easier. I really would rather do it myself, but I feel like a lift is the way to go.

Yeah man I got you...I just called them yesterday and they seemed nice on the phone. Normally charge $10/ hour for bays without lifts, and $20 for bays with lifts. I told him lift would be nice but don't want to pay double as I could probably get it done without it, but he said he'll let me get the bay with lift for same price...$10. I'm doing the exact same thing as you...3x3 refill/drain. Have an appointment for saturday at 7pm.

If your military, most bases have a auto hobby shop. The one here in Jax charges $4.00 an hour for the lift, $3.00 and hour without one.

Well I have plans next weekend. However I'm going there tonight around 7 instead of tomorrow if you want to do it then. I'm doing two drain refills and including time to drive around between refills it should't take more than half an hour. So you can just use the rest of that hour.

I guess post up on how you liked the place; and how much work/time the 2x3 was. I may just grab a friend and see if they would be willing to give me a hand next weekend or something.

I work until seven tonight. And either way I have the new tranny fluid but am still waiting on the pressure switches.

The 2x3 will be extremely easy. I did a 1x3 a few days ago while I was changing my oil. Even easier for me because I didn't have a fill plug to bother with, so I filled using the dipstick hole. You said you don't have the switches so don't want to work on your car yet, but your welcome to ride along with me and watch how I do the 2x3 so you'll be better prepared next weekend. So easy you won't even need a friend really...Will let you know about the place though after I get back.

Henrokk, how did everything go out there? I think I may head up there this weekend myself. Couple questions. Did they have something for you to drain oil/fluid into? And do they have air tools available for use? Thanks!

They were pretty awesome actually. Ended up taking 2 hours there, they had problems with the lift. Well not problems really but the guys just wanted to be absolutely sure the car was on there right so they lifted and lowered and lifted back up a bunch of times. Plus I lost the little bolt that screws the splash guard in so me and the two guys that worked there looked around the shop for it lol. Ended up finding it and everything worked out. Still only charged me $10. One of the guys even helped me measure the atf fluid.
yes they do have a oil pan. It's one of the ones that sit on top of a large pole so the pan sits closer to where the fluid is coming out of and drains into a container at the bottom of it. I brought my own oil pan to sit on top of theirs because theirs just drain the fluid and I wanted to be able to measure how much fluid came out. So I would bring one oil pan that doesn't drain it and a measuring container. Actually I left my oil pan there so they probably still have it lol.
I'm not sure if they have air tools as I did not need any, but on their site it does say they have tools for rent at an additional charge.
Only complaint I have, which is not their fault, is that the area they are in is not too great for the drive that we need to do in between fills and refills. I just went up the street in all gears(lots of traffic, got some honks) and then pulled into a parking lot to go through the low gears and reverse.
I liked how they were very hands off, and just let you do your own thing at your own pace, but were there if you needed a hand with something.
So yes I highly recommend them. Just wish they had a location in Raleigh...

Glad to hear you had a great experience with them. Hoping to maybe check out the other one I found in the Charlotte area this weekend. Still waiting to see if my car will be finished by then though.
