Moving to Charlotte, Need some advice
So after living in New Jersey all my life, looks like I will be moving to Charlotte very soon. I've been doing research online about places to live, but would like some advice from people who live there. I'm looking to rent a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment, but not too sure were too look. I will be working on Independence Blvd about 6-7 miles east of Uptown. I was thinking around Uptown would be cool since there will be stuff to do and its not that far from work. My only problem is storage since I have a lot of junk and multiple cars. What areas would you guys suggest for a young single person?

Hmmmm that is a tough one. By multiple cars how many do you mean 2-3 or like 4-6? Either way with renting I can't imagine it is going to be easy to deal with multiple cars. Your best bet is probably some sort of apartment complex on the outskirts rather than uptown. I believe a lot of uptown units have a limit to parking spaces per unit since they are in the city. When you are more on the outskirts you can kinda have as many as you want without a problem. I ACCURATEin lives with his gf and used his garage for one space and then took up two additional spaces for his girls car and his second car for over 2 years with no issues.
Junk wise I would say your best is to find someplace with a garage then for sure. I am not sure if uptown apartments have garages at all without paying a heavy premium. Not living in the city I can't be certain. However my suggestion is when looking I would just eliminate places that don't offer a single car garage with them.

Not sure what you're looking for in a place, what you want to spend, etc. Knowing nothing, I'd say rent a townhouse with a two-car garage if you have that many cars (going to be further from downtown and your job), or rent a house in an in-town neighborhood (obviously closer to where you want to be).
All depends on your income. There are some sick a$$ places downtown that are in the heart of it all with plenty of room just very pricy. The outskirts are nice closer to the border if you are willing to travel a little. Honestly I would suggest the fort mill SC area. It a little quieter, rent is cheaper, taxes are cheaper, and you are still only 20 minutes from everything. I have lived in rock hill since 88 and its very convient to Charlotte. I commute there on a regular and its not bad at all. Fort mill is half the distance that I travel. Baxter and ballintine are awesome places also.
If I were you I'd look in the suburbs. Not much happening in the city most nights, although the EpiCenter area does come alive on Thursdays, especially in the spring/summer (which is a longer season here then in NJ). Being that you'll be working on Independence, I'd say something in the South End or even Ballantyne (little further out) would be good. I agree with those that said to just get storage for your stuff.
Really it depends on your budget. Lots of nice places, but obviously they're more then the not so nice places...
