it's quite easy to be honest with you.

all you'll need is a heat gun and spatula, pop the orange amber out, take out the ugly 168 bulbs, reseal with silicone or the nissan butyl rubber (works better), and you have a finished product.

if you're scared to tackle this, i can help you. but, i was scared to do this at first. i only had one set of headlights. just make sure to take your time sealing it up.

Go to an auto parts store and by an aluminum polish. Get some soft towels, 10 to 20 minutes later you should be fine. If not, buy the $20 dollar kit and use a drill(without the drill bit) to complete the steps. I did mine and love the new look.

I think the OP means removing the amber from inside the headlight housing.... NOT removing the yellow faded crust oxidation buildup on the lenses.

Well, JnC charges a similar amount. Maybe someone else will chime in and help.

im in thousand oaks and i plan to open up my headlights.

ive done it before using the oven baking method. ive also used a heat gun to pry open my fog lights. i think the heat gun is definitely faster than baking it.

its easy but time consuming.

dude $185 is pretty reasonable. if you can't afford it, just do it yourself.

it really isn't that hard. i did it myself on my 3g tl. so you can definitely do it.

grow some balls and just do it yourself

at least you're not blacking them out.. cause blacking them out requires way more time.. which is..

1) open up headlights
2) pop-out amber reflector
3) sand down chrome housing with 3 different grits
4) 2 coats of primer + drying time
5) 3 coats of black paint + drying time
6) 3 coats of clearcoat + drying time
7) reseal headlights

--

all you gotta do is open them up, pop out the amber reflector and you're done. just gotta reseal, that's it. and from your pics.. seems like you could definately do some wetsanding on your headlights then finish off with meguiar's plastx.

like jjashaa stated in another thread .. it's the way you pop the headlight cover off that determines how good the reseal is, (meaning the plastic tabs). i took my time resealing with the permatex silicone. still was skeptical if it would condensate or not. but a few days ago, it rained the whole night. went back to check on it the next morning, and no condensation ! so the key here is to just be patient opening/closing headlights. you'll be fine.

MAN you guys would charge people that much to do headlights when you are able to hook up a azine member boggles my mind. My buddies in San Diego have been helping a lot of guys to do work on their car as long as they are willing to buy some food to bbq and beer and hang out. We do that because AZINE helped us get our cars to where it is and saved us a lot of money. Why dont you guys give back to the community and help a guy out? Shit you send me your headlights and I'll send you mine for $50 bucks because I would have to pay for shipping.
