Visiting LA...need suggestions

i'm visiting LA in january.. i was wondering if you guys have any suggestions where i can stay in la/hollywood?.. somewhere that is close to walk to a resturant or bar and semi bunch of things to do... i have more questions if any can give me advices i'd really appreciate it..

the things to see and do in la are pretty spread out so i'd recommend having a rental car available. i don't know how long you're staying or what your plan is though

i know i wanna go hiking or bike riding by near the hollywood sign but i dont know what the trail is called... also wanna do something i haven't done yet.. i've already been on hollywood blvd and all that.. do you guys recommend anything else? i know it'll be kind of chilli in january.. i kinda wanted suggestions from you guy's personal experience...any advice will help.. i'll be there for 4 days

i wanna site see... not so much tourist stuff like museums and stuff like that... i wanna visit hot spots to get drinks, great food, great views and anything interesting.. it'll just be me and my girl though and we're both 23

Those places are around Hollywood area well....close vicinity....
