You'll need to buy an updated DVD if you want to update the navigation database to the 2010 one (www.acuranavi.com) As for hacking the software to get rid of the nag screen and adding trip and a/c controls, this thread is great:

i have the nav hacks for the new 3.9 disc. changing the wallpaper is the same on all of them. the OK button and trip computer files i have already hacked. if you want them, let me know.
