Josh, how's that Cerritos Regional Park you mentioned... any good for BBQ? How are tables, grills and shade?

lol.. at the cerritos regional, there are sports to grill... my old church had outing there and stuff.. but reservation is important
there are few areas where they have tables underneath some shade and grill near by.. theres actually a fairly big one by the parking lot.
and then another one near the middle of the park

How about
Seems like a good spot. Parking area will accommodate 40 cars easily.

Covered pavilion with grill (center of pic). It's got basketball courts and baseball diamond too if people wanted to play.... plus slides and stuff for the little kids, if anyone brings any.

The other option is Cerritos Regional park which Josh suggested. The guys at Club T S X have had a few BBQ meets there before.
There's also Ernest E. Debs Regional Park (4235 Monterey Road, Los Angeles, CA 90032) near me. According to http://www.laparks.org/dos/parks/fac...estEDebsPk.htm, there are 100 picnic tables, 20 BBQ pits, and a HUGE parking area.
It's pretty isolated from the residential area too.
Entry point is A, then you drive down Debs Park Rd to parking area near lower left corner of pic.

Not much shade though where tables and BBQ pits are.

i just called rowland heights park.. no answer.. i left them my name and number.
i also called cerritos regional park and they said everything on the 23rd is reserved. there are 2 available areas open for the 30th but there isn't any shade in the 2 available areas (it's called Tony's Breeze & Hillview I believe).
i also called Ernest E. Debs Regional Park, and sections are available on the 23rd and 30th. for the 23rd, we got section 1B open.. includes 4 bbq pits and 8 tables. on the 30th, we got section 1a open, 13 tables and 2 bbq pits, close to the restroom and playground. but the only negative is that we'd be in the sun all day. reservation for this park costs $75.
ideally.. i'm sure all of us would want shade. funny thing is i actually live right in front of a park (garvey park) with tons of shaded areas. i'm checking on that as we speak.
anyways. we are inching closer and closer to the bbq date (which im sure will happen on the 30th but it really depends which day we can get reserved).

rowland heights park called back and said it's first come first serve.. which is good but someone needs to be willing to wake up early and hold the spot. i'll be one of them if anybody else is down because all the other parks i'm calling either have a shaded area reserved or the reservations are already full.

^ Whittier Narrows Park
The last time we had a meet there (2009), the one grill we found/had was all rusted and falling apart. Plus, you have to pay $6 or $7 to get in.![Lame](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/lame.gif)
If Henry wants to get up early for Rowland Heights Park, I guess I can get up early for Thomas Burton Park. We'll see which we can get... then post up on here which one to go to???![Shrug](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif)
They're not too far off from each other.... better our odds of getting a place.

well guys, if you think about it this way, no one has to pitch in for reservation. if we do grab the spot, then we'll have shaded areas to accomodate us. it's better than pitching in for a spot with no shade right? so yeah.. any volunteers?

Hey guys, lurker here that recently registered. I have a suggestion for venue, how about Verdugo Park in Glendale? Lots of parking and lots of picnic areas however, I don't know how packed it'll get being a Saturday. Birthday parties, baseball and soccer games, and there's a skate park.
There's also Crescenta Valley Park. There are some baseball diamonds so there is potential for high traffic. Last I remember, there was some grills but I don't quite remember. This one is in my neighborhood so I can do some scouting this weekend.

Hey guys, thanks for the invite. Yup Garden Grove Park is damn expensive but we pulled it off last time due to over 30 people signing up for the meet. So whoever couldn't bring food just pitched in $10 for the reservation.
The price for a pavilion was $120. But that's the biggest spot there is at that park. We can rent shelters at a cheaper price. I'm thinking around $60? It's roomy for a small size meet but doesn't come equip with grills like the pavilion. Here's what the shelter looks like:

Also, parking is VERY abundant at Garden Grove Park. This parking lot near the shelter never gets full, even on a busy Sunday:

Not sure if any of the spots have been reserved but if you guys do change your minds on spots, let me know!

for the garden grove park.. usually nobody reserves that place.. but i could be wrong.. we reserved it last time just to be sure we got a place.. we can always check if anyone reserved that spot & if not.. first come first serve..

Probably not a good idea to keep changing the place.
Rowland Heights park and Thomas Burton park are 1st come... so we'll do that. If necessary, I'll wake up early and hold a place.
The goal is Rowland Heights park. I think it would be best since it has a shaded pavilion. Thomas Burton is kinda open so we'd need someone to bring canopies like last time unless people want to roast in the sun.

But if it's needed, I have two 10x10 canopies (I use them to detail my car in the sun).
No one reserves it but there's always people there using it. I go there plenty of time with Haley and there's always a birthday going on.

I'm willing to reserve the spot if there honestly no one that lives closer to the park than I do, I live in Santa Ana so It's a good drive for me, I'm not too sure if I'll be able to provide food or utensils of any sort but I can reserve it I don't mind
